Job summary

Octobotics is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to lead firmware development for microcontroller-based systems. The role focuses on Embedded C/C++, Bare-Metal and RTOS design, with deep work on STM32 and related MCUs.

You will develop drivers, interfaces (UART/SPI/I2C), and communication stacks while ensuring robust unit tests and hardware integration. A strong debugging mindset and collaborative teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of embedded firmware development experience.
  • Strong experience with STM32 and bare-metal/RTOS development.
  • Proficient with UART, SPI, I2C and related interfaces.
  • Experience debugging hardware–software integration and peripherals.
  • Knowledge of FreeRTOS and CMSIS-RTOS is required.
  • Bachelor’s/Master’s in Electronics/Electrical/Embedded Systems or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain embedded firmware for microcontroller-based systems.
  • Design and implement peripherals and drivers for various MCUs.
  • Integrate firmware with hardware components and sensors.
  • Perform unit, integration, and system-level testing.
  • Collaborate with hardware, electrical, mechanical, and QA teams; participate in code reviews and documentation.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer with 7+ years of hands‑on experience in embedded firmware development. The candidate will be responsible for developing, debugging, testing, and maintaining firmware for microcontroller‑based systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain embedded firmware using Embedded C/C++.
  • Work on STM32, ESP32, ESP8266, AVR, and PIC microcontrollers.
  • Develop firmware using both Bare-Metal programming and FreeRTOS/CMSIS-RTOS.
  • Configure and develop STM32 applications using STM32CubeMX and STM32CubeIDE.
  • Develop and integrate communication interfaces including UART, SPI, I2C, RS485, MQTT, BLE, Wi‑Fi, and Bluetooth.
  • Work with ADC, PWM, Timers, Interrupts, RTC, EEPROM, Flash Memory, and Encoders.
  • Integrate firmware with HMI/display and external hardware interfaces.
  • Debug firmware and troubleshoot hardware-software integration issues.
  • Optimize firmware for performance, memory usage, reliability, and stability.
  • Perform unit testing, integration testing, and system-level debugging.
  • Develop production‑ready firmware and support firmware releases.
  • Collaborate with hardware, electrical, mechanical, and testing teams.
  • Participate in code reviews, technical documentation, and firmware architecture discussions.
Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Embedded C
  • Good knowledge of C/C++
  • Strong understanding of pointers, memory management, interrupts, structures, and low‑level programming
  • Hands‑on experience in Bare-Metal programming
