Job summary

Comminent Private Limited in Bengaluru is seeking a hands-on Lab Technician to support electronics and wireless hardware development. You will assemble, test, validate, and maintain electronic circuits and prototypes used in RF communication and IoT products.

The role involves soldering, RF testing, firmware flashing, and ensuring test setups are ready for engineers. Prior RD or prototype lab experience and familiarity with IoT devices are desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience in an R&D or prototype lab environment.
• Basic RF testing knowledge (antenna, RSSI, modulation checks).
• Familiarity with IoT products (gateways, meters, sensors).
• Ability to flash firmware and use test automation setups.
• Safety awareness when handling lab power and RF equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, solder, and rework PCBs and prototypes (SMD and through-hole).
• Support hardware bring-up and functional testing of RF and embedded boards.
• Perform continuity checks, voltage measurements, and component verification.
• Conduct basic RF testing (transmit power, antenna connection, and signal verification).
• Maintain and calibrate lab instruments - oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, VNAs, etc
• Organize lab inventory (components, cables, tools, PCBs) and ensure availability of test setups.
• Maintain lab documentation, test logs, and issue tracking records.
• Execute hardware validation test cases under engineer supervision.
• Record, summarize, and report test results accurately.
• Support pre-compliance testing (EMI/EMC, ESD, functional).
• Assist in long-duration tests, environmental stress tests, and firmware flashing.
• Support prototype builds, pilot runs, and failure analysis.
• Assist with RMA testing and board-level repair.
• Work with field support teams to analyze returned boards and identify issues.
