Qualifications

• 5+ electronic component engineering experience required, preferably in the automotive.

Job description:

Responsible for all facets of Electrical Component Engineering, including benchmarking of components as applicable. Responsibilities include all aspects of Electrical Component Engineering lifecycle, component requirements analysis, component testing where needed, component integration and integration tests, and clear documentation. Close working relationship with materials engineering and electrical component suppliers. Supports and modifies electrical BOMs as necessary as the result of component changes, and manages the changes through engineering systems. Analyzes analog and digital circuits to determine critical parameters. Participates in electrical design reviews. Prepares progress reports as required by the projects. Manages internal change control documentation for component change tractability. Determines critical component characteristics and finds suitable alternatives that meet internal, customer, and regulatory requirements. Ensures electrical components comply with applicable customer and industry requirements. Specifies testing needed to approve electrical components. Tests alternative electrical components to ensure no adverse performance effects are experienced.

Job Responsibilities

• Evaluates potential electronics components: Evaluates determines usage feasibility and approves electronics components for use in mechatronic products.
• Interfaces with customers and suppliers: Has open communication channels with customer and supplier engineering. Works to eliminate ambiguities in customer and component specifications, and develops component requirements documents to reflect the same
• Leads BTP Projects: Acts as the lead electronics component engineer for Build To Print (BTP) projects. Develops BOMs and works with the customer and component suppliers, as well as manufacturing, to ensure the BTPO projects are supported, on schedule, and meet customer expectations
• Leads Component Root Cause Activities: Acts as the first responder to component problems and issues. Leads the root cause and analysis activities, as related to electrical components and systems. Works closely with component suppliers in failure analysis activities. Documents test results, findings, and recommendations.
• Leads Electrical Component Standardization: Leads departmental initiatives to reduce part proliferations and standardize electrical component usage. Develops core component directions and strategies for UP and core technologies within the product lines.
• Leads VANE Initiatives: Leads Value Engineering activities in an effort to reduce costs in component selections and electronics designs. Uses deep component skills and electronics knowledge to offer design improvements that reduce costs and limit functional risks.
• Promotes continuous improvement: Drives and/or supports ongoing value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE) efforts on existing programs to control cost and promote cost savings. Encourages employee ideas and problem-solving.
• Provides direction: Provides direction and guidance to electronics engineers and PCB designers in component selections. Supports the layout of pc boards and mechanical part designs as related to electronics components. Directs activities of lab technicians and manufacturing engineers as necessary to resolve component engineering issues.
• Validates Electronics Components: Develops and executes component part validation tests to ensure feasibility and operational characteristics, as necessary. Directs lab technicians in component testing.
• Communication: Good communication skills in oral and written English to be able to participate in design reviews, project meetings, and other activities working with the teams in the US

Education

Education: Bachelor or Diploma in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Equivalent

ABET accreditation preferred

Experience (Required or Preferred)

• 5+ Electronic Component engineering experience required preferably in the automotive industry
• Experience working with and leading electronic circuit designs and component engineering
• Orcad experience preferable
