Job summary

Thermax in Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh, seeks a 66/11 kV Substation Shift Engineer to ensure safe, reliable operation of the substation and distribution systems during shift duty. You will monitor 66 kV feeders, transformers, switchgear, and capacitor banks, and perform HT/EHT switching, isolation, charging and synchronization per SOP.

You will oversee SCADA/RTU operations, analyze relay trips, coordinate with grid authorities, manage transformer loading and voltage control, and supervise

Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech Electrical or Diploma Electrical as minimum qualification.
• 5–8 years of relevant experience in substation operations.
• Valid Government Electrical Supervisor Licence up to 66kV.

66/11 kV Substation Shift Engineer

Roles & Responsibilities:

Responsible for safe, reliable and efficient operation of 66/11 kV substation and associated power distribution systems during shift duty.

Key Technical Responsibilities:

• Operate and monitor 66 kV incoming feeders, power transformers, 11 kV switchgear, capacitor banks and auxiliary systems.
• Perform HT/EHT switching, isolation, charging and synchronization activities as per SOP.
• Monitor SCADA, relay annunciation, energy meters and disturbance records.
• Analyze protection relay trips and coordinate restoration with SLDC/Grid authorities.
• Ensure transformer loading, voltage regulation and reactive power management.
• Issue, control and close PTW/LOTO permits.
• Lead emergency response during faults, transformer trips, breaker failures and blackouts.
• Supervise technicians, contractors and maintenance activities.

Technical Skills:

• Knowledge of 66 kV AIS/GIS substations.
• Protection relays: Overcurrent, Earth Fault, Differential, REF, Distance and Busbar protection.
• Transformers, OLTC, switchgear, CT/PT, batteries and chargers.
• SCADA, RTU and energy management systems.
• Electrical testing and troubleshooting.

Qualification:
