Role Overview

We are looking for a Battery Energy Storage (Techno-Commercial) professional with 6–8 years of experience in the Renewable Energy sector, including a minimum of 2 years of hands‑on experience in BESS energy modelling and sizing.

The candidate will be responsible for supporting the development and evaluation of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), hybrid renewable energy and other Energy Transition projects through techno-commercial assessment, energy modelling, technology evaluation, OEM/EPC evaluation and technical due diligence.

The role will work closely with Commercial, Engineering, Procurement, Finance, Project Development, OEMs, EPC contractors and external consultants to support investment decisions and development of new energy projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical and techno-commercial expertise for BESS and Energy Transition projects.
• Evaluate new business opportunities involving BESS, solar-wind-storage hybrid systems, pumped hydro, green hydrogen and other emerging energy technologies.
• Perform energy modelling and BESS sizing using relevant industry tools to determine optimal renewable generation and storage capacity.
• Evaluate different BESS technologies, configurations, operating strategies and performance parameters.
• Support the development of project implementation plans for BESS and hybrid renewable energy systems.
• Conduct preliminary techno-commercial assessments and support identification and shortlisting of viable project opportunities.
• Develop and review technical specifications for BESS systems and major equipment.
• Evaluate technical and commercial proposals received from BESS OEMs, EPC contractors and technology suppliers.
• Prepare technical comparison statements and provide inputs for LCOE / LCOS and project economics evaluation.
• Support the Commercial Lead in preparing Investment Committee presentations, RFP documents and techno-commercial proposals.
• Coordinate with internal cross-functional teams for technical evaluation, site surveys, grid connectivity assessment and project development activities.
• Conduct technical due diligence covering BESS technology, system configuration, performance, degradation, efficiency, availability, warranty and lifecycle considerations.
• Evaluate OEMs and suppliers based on technology maturity, performance, reliability, track record, warranties and commercial competitiveness.
• Coordinate with third-party technical consultants for technology and project-specific evaluations.
• Support review of grid connection status, project technical feasibility, major equipment specifications and drawings.
• Identify project risks and provide technical inputs for risk mitigation and investment evaluation.
• Monitor developments in the renewable energy and energy storage market and provide strategic inputs on emerging technologies and business opportunities.
• Support regulatory and policy-related activities by providing relevant technical inputs.
• Maintain project documentation, technical reports, due diligence reports and supporting documents for audit and investment processes.
• Develop and maintain relationships with BESS OEMs, EPC contractors, technology providers and other industry stakeholders.
• Support securing necessary development permits and approvals from relevant authorities and regulators.

Must-Have Experience

• 6–8 years of overall experience in the Renewable Energy industry.
• Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience in BESS energy modelling and sizing.
• Strong experience in Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) evaluation and techno-commercial assessment.
• Good understanding of BESS technologies, system configuration and operating principles.
• Experience in energy modelling and sizing of renewable + storage projects.
• Experience evaluating BESS OEMs, EPC contractors and technology providers.
• Understanding of project economics including LCOE / LCOS and techno-commercial comparisons.
• Knowledge of solar, wind and hybrid renewable energy systems.
• Experience in technical due diligence, project feasibility assessment and preparation of technical reports.
• Strong understanding of the renewable energy and energy storage market.
• Ability to work with Commercial, Engineering, Procurement, Finance and Project Development teams.
• Strong analytical, communication, negotiation and stakeholder‑management skills.
