Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Engineering (Industrial Safety) or Diploma in Safety with relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of workplace safety practices, risk assessment, incident investigation and statutory compliance.
  • Experience in coordinating statutory records, forms, returns, inspections and EHS documentation.
  • Experience with TNPCB documents and environmental monitoring reports.
  • Ability to advise departments and conduct safety studies and training.

Job description

  • Ensure compliance with applicable Factories Act, Rules, statutory requirements, and EHS regulations.
  • Coordinate and maintain statutory records, forms, returns, inspections, and compliance documentation within the required timelines.
  • Coordinate and submit required Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) documents and environmental monitoring reports which includes ambient air quality test, stack monitoring sheet, drinking and water analysis test, noise analysis test, VOC monitoring Analysis Test, Micro Metrological Test, Monthly water conception report and etc.
  • To advise the concerned departments in planning and organizing measures necessary for the effective control of personal injuries.
  • To advise on safety aspects in all job studies and to carry out detailed job safety studies of selected jobs.
  • To advise the purchasing departments in ensuring high quality and availability of personal protective equipment.
  • To carry out plant safety inspections in order to observe the physical conditions of work and the work practices and procedures followed by workers and to render advise on measures to be adopted for removing the unsafe physical conditions and preventing unsafe actions by workers.
  • To render assistance on matters relating to reporting and investigation of industrial accidents and occupational diseases.
  • To investigate all accidents and near-miss incidents.
  • To render assistance for the cases of industrial diseases contracted and in respect of dangerous occurrences reportable under rule 96 of the Tamil Nadu Factories Rules, 1950.
  • To render assistance on the maintenance of such records as are necessary relating to accidents, dangerous occurrences and industrial diseases.
    (i) To promote setting up of safety committees and act as adviser and catalyst to such committees
    (ii) To organize in association with the concerned department/ campaigns, competitions, contests and other activities which will develop and maintain the interest of the workers in establishing and maintaining safe conditions of work and procedure.
  • To design and conduct either independently or in collaboration with the training department, suitable training and educational programs for the prevention of personal injuries and for the propagation of safety aware.

Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Engineering (Industrial Safety) or equivalent, with 1-2 years of relevant experience; OR
  • Diploma in Safety with 4-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Relevant experience in EHS/Safety within a manufacturing or industrial environment will be an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of workplace safety practices, risk assessment, incident investigation, statutory compliance, and EHS documentation.
  • Strong communication, coordination, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and employees at different levels.
  • Willingness to respond to plant breakdowns and work from the West Tambaram, Chennai facility.
