Job summary

Alembic Pharmaceuticals is seeking a seasoned Environmental Operations professional to manage the daily operations of ETP, STP, and ZLD systems, while overseeing advanced equipment such as MEE, ATFD, and RO units. The role requires ensuring hazardous waste handling complies with regulations and leading ISO 14001:2015 environmental audits.

You will monitor OCEMS, coordinate with CPCB/SPCB servers, and drive sustainability initiatives including water recycling and CAPA-based incident

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operation and optimization of ETP, STP and ZLD systems.
• Oversee advanced equipment: MEE, ATFD and RO units.
• Control hazardous waste segregation, storage and disposal as per rules.
• Maintain OCEMS and real-time data connectivity with CPCB/SPCB servers.
• Lead environmental audits per ISO 14001:2015 and regulatory inspections.
• Investigate deviations and implement CAPA.
• Drive 3R initiatives, recycle treated water and reduce emissions.
• Prepare and submit environmental statements and EC compliance reports.
• Maintain legal register and monitor compliance with permits and rules.

Job description

Effluent & Waste Management Operations

• Plant Operations: Manage the daily operation and optimization of the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), and Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) systems.
• Advanced Equipment: Oversee complex environmental equipment like Multi-Effect Evaporators (MEE), Agitated Thin Film Dryers (ATFD), and Reverse Osmosis (RO) units.
• Hazardous Waste: Control the safe segregation, storage and arrange to send at authorized disposal of hazardous chemical and co-processing waste as per hazardous waste rules.

Audits, Monitoring & Safety

• Monitoring Systems: Maintain Online Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (OCEMS) and ensure real-time data connectivity with CPCB/SPCB servers.
• Environmental Audits: Lead internal and external environmental audits, ISO 14001:2015 management systems, and customer/regulatory inspections.
• Incident Investigation: Investigate any environmental deviations, near-misses, or leakages. Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Sustainability & Green Initiatives

• Resource Conservation: Drive initiatives to implement 3R concept, maximize treated water recycling, and cut carbon emissions.
• Training: Conduct environmental awareness training for plant employees and contractual workers.

Regulatory Compliance & Approvals

• Statutory Permissions: Secure and renew Consolidated Consents and Authorisations (CC&A), Environmental Clearances (EC), and No Objection Certificates (NOC) from State Pollution Control Boards (GPCB/SPCB) and CPCB, Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA).
• Legal Filings: Prepare and submit mandatory environmental statements, form returns (Form 4, Form 5), and Environment Clearance (EC) compliance reports on time.
• Monitoring of Legal Compliance: Prepare Legal register for site and monitor compliance as per the consents, approvals and Environmental rules.
