Job summary

L&T Heavy Civil Infrastructure is seeking an EHS professional to oversee site health, safety, and environmental compliance. The role involves enforcing the EHS plan, conducting risk assessments, and coordinating training for site personnel.

The candidate should have the Engineering Diploma in Fire and Safety or advanced diploma and 3-6 years of experience in safety management on large projects. Regular site inspections and reporting to HQ are expected.

  • Understand the L&T Heavy Civil Infrastructure IC EHS IMS and Project EHS Plan.

  • Support Project EHS In-charge Operations in their role.
  • Coordinate risk assessment exercises and prepare safe work methods.
  • Conduct monthly inspections of equipment and issue GREEN CARDS/RED TAGS.
  • Conduct area-wise EHS inspections and compile weekly reports.
  • Deliver EHS training and maintain communications with EHS team.
  • Prepare training matrices and maintain EHS statistics for HQ and client reports.

Job Description
  • 01. Understand the L&T Heavy Civil Infrastructure IC EHS Integrated Management System (IMS) and Project EHS Plan
  • 02. Understand & promote L&T L.I.F.E. (Live – Injury – Free – Each day) program and Zero Harm Vision.
  • 03. Stop work if unsafe practices are witnessed and report it to the concerned to initiate corrective action.
  • 04. Promote a ‘Don’t Walk by & Commitment to Action attitude’ at all times.
  • 05. Support Project EHS In-charge Operations in his role.
  • 06. Responsible and accountable for the performance of Site EHS stewards within his area.
  • 07. Co-ordinate the Risk Assessment exercises in their respective area along with Engineer in-charge in preparation of Safe Work Methods for all activities. Appraise the status to EHS in-charge for updating project risk management register.
  • 08. Make the schedule and do the monthly inspection of all type of equipment, machinery, power tools and issue GREEN CARDs for fit vehicles and RED TAG for unfit vehicles in their respective area. Monthly electrical inspections shall be jointly conducted with P&M Electrical Engineers.
  • 09. Do the area wise EHS inspection every week with reference to Safe Work Methods & EHS Inspection checklist. Make weekly compilation report and submit to Project EHS In-charge.
  • 10. Actively propagate EHS in their respective area by hoardings, posters and awareness sessions
  • 11. Witness and acknowledge the Pre-start verification and Briefing to work force. Conduct work permit audits to verify the compliance against stipulated controls mentioned in work permit on daily basis.
  • 12. Organize and deliver EHS training when requested.
  • 13. Generate an awareness of EHS as an integral part of good management.
  • 14. Maintain effective communications with the Site EHS In-charge to ensure an adequate flow of EHS information relating to the L&T Heavy civil & Infrastructure IC EHS performance.
  • 15. Accompany Engineers/supervisors on EHS Tours.
  • 16. Support the EHS monitoring function as per Project EHS Plan (Inspection).
  • 17. Report all incidents and conduct investigation of 6 to 8 category and support incident investigations of 1 to 5 category incidents.
  • 18. Attend EHS meetings when requested.
  • 19. Maintain and update of the L&T L.I.F.E. (Live – Injury – Free – Each day) EHS notice boards in their locations when requested.
  • 20. Shall attend EHS Orientation before going in to the field.
  • 21. Preparing the Sub-contractor evaluation report on monthly basis.
  • 22. Conducting the Subcontractor meeting on the monthly basis for ensure the continual improvement on their performance.
  • 23. Motivating the workmen by identifying the safety conscious workmen & issuing the gifts.
  • 24. Regularly updating the EHS Plan, HIRA, SWM & other IMS procedures.
  • 25. Planning in advance with the site in charges / Engineers in order to ensure the safety arrangements.
  • 27. Co-ordinating with P&M engineers for the Third party inspection of all the lifting equipment’s & Tools tackles.
  • 28. Identifying the all the Unsafe Acts / Unsafe conditions, registering the same & get it complied on time.
  • 29. Counselling the workmen on their violations to ensure the behavioural changes.
  • 30. Conducting the emergency mock drills at regular interval in order to ensure the effectiveness of the emergency arrangements available at site.
  • 31. Conducting the visitor induction in order maintain the awareness for all short time visitors.
  • 32. Maintaining the required quantity of PPE’s by conducting the periodic stock inspection at stores.
  • 33. Updating the training matrix, training masters to ensure the 100% of participation by both staffs & workmen.
  • 34. Preparing the Internal & Client Monthly EHS Statistics & get it verified with EHS In-charge & sending to HQ, Client on time.
  • 35. Coordinating with the Client during their site visit.
  • 36. Preparing the International/ National level award documents.
  • 37. Co-ordinating with Admin/IR team for the periodic inspection at workmen habitat to ensure the good hygiene condition.
  • 38. Communicating with the client to raise the productivity in safety aspects.
  • 39. Co-ordinating with the authorization committee to authorize the various trade of workers in order to minimize the unsafe acts.
  • 40. Carrying out the environmental awareness program/ campaigns.
  • 41. Identifying the external competent agency & organizing the trade specific training in order to increase their competency level.
  • 42. Co-ordinating the health check-up programs on regular basis for monitoring the adverse effect on employee’s occupational health.
  • 43. Taking new initiatives & Implementing them in order to Prevent / reduce the UA/UC in cost effective manner.
