Qualifications

  • 12-18+ years in magazine publishing, premium/luxury media, travel or related editorial environments.
  • Prior experience in client-facing editorial roles preferred.
  • Experience in in-flight or branded publishing would be advantageous.
  • Graduate or postgraduate degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, English or related field preferred.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Editor to lead the editorial and content operations of an in‑flight magazine. The role requires a strong understanding of premium publishing, excellent editorial judgement, and the ability to work closely with the client on a day‑to‑day basis.

The Editor will act as the key editorial point of contact for the client, understanding their expectations, incorporating feedback, and ensuring that the magazine consistently delivers on both editorial quality and commercial objectives.

The ideal candidate should be equally comfortable discussing content with the client, guiding writers and designers, managing production timelines, and developing advertorials, branded content, and commercial tie‑ups without compromising the magazine's editorial identity.

Key Responsibilities
Client Management & Coordination
  • Serve as the primary editorial point of contact for the client and maintain a strong, professional, and collaborative relationship.
  • Coordinate with the client on a day‑to‑day basis to understand briefs, expectations, priorities, and feedback.
  • Present editorial plans, story ideas, content concepts and layouts to the client and incorporate feedback appropriately.
  • Ensure client expectations are understood by the entire editorial and production team.
  • Build trust and maintain a grounded, solution‑oriented relationship with the client.
  • Anticipate client requirements and proactively address concerns or potential challenges.
Editorial Planning & Content Development
  • Drive the overall editorial vision, content strategy, and quality of the in‑flight magazine.
  • Plan and commission stories, features, interviews, travel, lifestyle and other relevant content.
  • Develop compelling story ideas that are relevant to the airline's audience, brand positioning and passenger profile.
  • Ensure consistency in tone, language, quality and editorial standards across every issue.
  • Review and approve editorial content, headlines, copy, images and page layouts.
Commercial & Advertorial Integration
  • Work closely with the commercial/business team to develop and execute advertorials, branded content, sponsored features and commercial tie‑ups.
  • Understand the commercial objective behind each association and translate it into engaging editorial‑led content.
  • Ensure that commercial content is creatively integrated while maintaining the overall quality and premium positioning of the magazine.
  • Coordinate with clients, brands and internal commercial teams on briefs, content requirements, approvals and deliverables.
  • Identify opportunities where editorial storytelling can support revenue‑generating partnerships.
Team Handling
  • Lead, mentor and manage the editorial team, including writers, contributors, freelancers and other creative resources.
  • Allocate stories and responsibilities based on individual strengths and issue requirements.
  • Review team output and provide clear editorial direction and feedback.
  • Ensure effective coordination between editorial, design, commercial and production teams.
  • Create a collaborative and accountable working environment.
Pre‑Production & Production Involvement
  • Be actively involved from the pre‑production stage of every issue.
  • Participate in editorial meetings, content planning, story allocation, shoots, interviews and production discussions.
  • Coordinate closely with the design and production teams to ensure editorial vision translates effectively into the final pages.
  • Review layouts, proofs and final pages at every stage of production.
  • Ensure all content, images, credits, captions and commercial elements are accurate and approved before release.
Timelines & Delivery
  • Take complete ownership of issue‑wise editorial deadlines and ensure timely delivery of all content.
  • Maintain a clear production calendar and monitor progress across the team.
  • Follow up with writers, contributors, designers, photographers, commercial teams and the client to ensure timely closure.
  • Identify delays or bottlenecks early and take corrective action.
  • Ensure the magazine goes to print within the agreed timelines without compromising quality.

Experience & Qualification
  • 12-18+ years of experience in magazine publishing, premium/luxury media, travel, lifestyle, or related editorial environments.
  • Prior experience inclient‑facing editorial roles willbe strongly preferred.
  • Experience working on an in‑flight magazine or other branded/custom publishing platform would be an advantage.
  • Graduate/Postgraduate degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, English, Literature or a related field preferred.
