Responsibilities

• Ideate, research and pitch stories for all sections of Architectural Digest.

• Identify appropriate writers, send story briefs, and ensure timely submissions.
• Line-edit, copy proof, and own end-to-end text-heavy pieces for print and digital.

Overview

The Features Editor is the most important writer on the team. The candidate must have 4 to 5 years of relevant experience.

Job details

• The features editor in conjunction with the editor is responsible for the ideas that fill the magazine.
• They work closely with the Editor to develop an editorial calendar.
• They also work closely with the Editor to create the line‑up and maintain it over the course of each publishing cycle.
• They are required to ideate, research and pitch stories for all sections of the magazine.
• They are expected to act as a commissioning editor, which includes identifying appropriate writers, sending story briefs, following‑up and making sure pieces come in on time.
• They must also read pages, copy proof and line‑edit to ensure they are fit for publishing.
• They are required to take end‑to‑end ownership for all text‑heavy pieces in the magazine.
• Features Editor write their own stories as well, across platforms—print and digital.
• They work closely with the art and production teams to ensure timely submissions and movement of content.
• They also research and contribute to the creative presentation of stories.
• They are an integral part of the team that works closely on various AD related events, IPs and collaborations through the year.
• They are expected to represent AD and be its brand ambassador at external events.

Requirements

• Must have an absolute interest, knowledge, and passion for design, art, and architecture.
• Must also be interested in social and cultural narratives that play a role in determining AD’s content planning and creative output.
• Should know the critical stakeholders of the Indian design, architecture landscape, and at least have basic knowledge of international names and trends.
• Should be familiar with a network of writers, researchers, contributors to build a roster of contributors for AD.
• Must have a strong command over the English language and be a good writer themself.
• Must be a proficient editor.
