Job summary

Modern Signal Services is building a high-performing procurement team to strengthen purchasing operations and drive cost efficiency. The Buyer will manage end-to-end procurement—from requisitions to PO management, supplier coordination, and ensuring timely material availability.

You will review ECNs/ECOs for procurement impact, drive inventory disposition, obtain updated quotes, and collaborate with Quality to release orders at new revisions while maintaining compliance.

Qualifications

• Min 2 years of procurement or buying experience.
• Ability to interpret MRP data for purchasing requirements.
• Experience negotiating with suppliers to achieve best pricing.
• Proficient in Excel; Power BI experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Pull, review, and interpret MRP data to support purchasing requirements.

About the Role

We are building a high-performing procurement team to strengthen our purchasing operations and drive cost efficiency across the organization. The Buyer will be responsible for end-to-end procurement activities-from purchase requisition to purchase order management, supplier coordination, cost negotiations, and ensuring timely material availability. This role offers a great opportunity for internal talent to grow within the organization and work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver business impact.

Must Have: Engineering change management

• Review every engineering change notice (ECN/ECO) for procurement impact: affected part numbers, old and new revisions, and interchangeability (form, fit, function).
• Drive disposition of existing inventory and supplier work-in-progress (use as-is, rework, return or scrap) and quantify the cost.
• Communicate revised drawings and specifications to suppliers, and obtain updated quotes, lead times and tooling impact.
• Coordinate with Quality on required first article inspection, supplier requalification or validation before releasing orders at a new revision.
• Confirm effectivity (date, lot, serial or use-up) and act on it, including amending or cancelling open Pos at superseded revisions.

• Collaborate with planning, finance, logistics, and operations teams to ensure timely material availability.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and supplier performance enhancement.

Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of procurement or buying experience.
• Hands-on experience with MRP systems and ability to extract and interpret MRP data.
• Experience expediting and de-expediting supplier shipments.
• Knowledge of ERP systems.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Excel required; Power BI experience is a plus.
• High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
