Job summary

Qualifications

• Diploma or certification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in hotel/hospitality.
• Comprehensive knowledge of building systems including electrical, HVAC, plumbing and fire safety.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with a detail-oriented approach.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with focus on customer service.
• Familiarity with local building codes and regulations in Chennai.
• Knowledge of energy conservation practices and their implementation.
• Basic computer skills for record-keeping and maintenance management systems.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and respond to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance.
• Respond promptly to guest and staff maintenance requests and resolve issues efficiently.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs and equipment performance using computerized systems.
• Implement and support preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
• Monitor energy usage and participate in energy conservation initiatives.
• Respond to emergencies such as power failures, equipment breakdowns and safety hazards with urgency.
• Collaborate with contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and servicing.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards including local building codes.
• Assist in supervising maintenance staff during shifts and participate in shift rotations.
