Job summary

Ericsson is seeking a Domain Support Specialist — SRF SCM RAN to plan and own software upgrades, configuration changes and service quality activities for the RAN (2G/3G/4G) within the operations team.

The role emphasizes meeting SLA/WLA targets, post-upgrade verification, troubleshooting and ensuring safe, compliant procedures while coordinating with NOC, field engineering, RF and vendors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, CS or related field.
  • Strong understanding of 2G/3G/4G RAN technologies and BSC/eNodeB.
  • Hands-on experience with RAN software upgrades and live network changes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot post-upgrade issues, incl. LTE cells.
  • Knowledge of KPIs and ability to interpret trends.
  • Familiar with change/release management and SLAs/WLAs.
  • Excellent communication; able to handle multiple priorities.
  • Experience with vendor OSS tools for RAN config/monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Execute and own RAN software upgrades and configuration changes per change management.
  • Prioritize workload to meet SLA/WLA objectives; manage escalations.
  • Prepare upgrade plans, rollback procedures and risk assessments.
  • Coordinate with NOC, field engineering, RF, software teams and vendors.
  • Perform post-upgrade validation and KPI checks.
  • Monitor service performance indicators and guide corrective actions.
  • Maintain change logs, configuration records and documentation.
  • Organize in-house training and runbooks; maintain backup plans.
  • Participate in technical reviews and suggest improvements.
  • Ensure safety, security and procedural compliance.

About this opportunity The Domain Support Specialist — SRF SCM RAN is responsible for planning, executing and owning software upgrades, configuration changes and related service quality activities for the RAN (2G/3G/4G) within the operations organization. The role ensures change activities meet SLA/WLA targets, follow correct methodologies to avoid outages, and include post upgrade verification and troubleshooting.

What you will do
  • Execute and take ownership of RAN software upgrades/updates (BSC, eNodeB) and configuration changes according to approved change management processes.
  • Prioritize and handle assigned work requests to meet SLA/WLA objectives; manage workload and escalations.
  • Prepare and validate upgrade/change plans, rollback procedures and risk assessments prior to execution.
  • Coordinate with cross functional teams (NOC, field engineering, RF, software teams, vendors) to schedule and perform upgrades with minimal service impact.
  • Perform post upgrade validation, KPI checks and troubleshooting for downgraded or impacted sites, especially LTE (4G) cells.
  • Monitor key service performance indicators (e.g., accessibility, retainability, throughput, RRC success, handover metrics) and interpret results to guide corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate change logs, configuration records and documentation for all activities performed.
  • Organize in house training, create runbooks, and maintain backup plans to ensure continuity and knowledge transfer.
  • Participate in technical reviews and recommend process or configuration improvements to enhance stability and service quality.
  • Ensure strict compliance with safety, security and operational procedures to prevent outages caused by incorrect methodology.
The skills you bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong understanding of mobile RAN technologies (2G/3G/4G) and RAN node architecture (BSC, eNodeB).
  • Hands on experience with software upgrade processes for RAN nodes and managing configuration changes in live networks.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot post upgrade site issues, particularly LTE down site or degraded performance cases.
  • Good knowledge of service network/application characteristics and KPIs, and ability to interpret KPI trends to diagnose problems.
  • Familiar with change management, release management and operational SLAs/WLAs.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills; able to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience with vendor tools and OSS platforms used for RAN configuration and monitoring preferred
