Job summary

Bombay Shaving Company is seeking a Distribution Planning Manager to design and execute distribution plans, ensuring the right products are available at the right locations, in the right quantities, and at the right time. You will optimize inventory deployment, transportation, service levels, and costs to fuel business growth.

Lead cross-functional collaboration with Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Manufacturing, Sales, and Warehousing to ensure smooth product flow.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • MBA / PGDM in Supply Chain, Operations, or Logistics is preferred.
  • Typically 610 years of relevant experience in distribution planning, supply chain planning, logistics, or inventory management.
  • Experience in FMCG, consumer goods, retail, manufacturing, or a similar high-volume distribution environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop short-, medium-, and long-term distribution plans aligned with demand, inventory availability, production plans, and business priorities.
  • Prepare and manage stock deployment plans across warehouses, distribution centers, depots, and customer locations.
  • Translate demand forecasts into actionable distribution and replenishment requirements.
  • Monitor inventory levels across the distribution network and identify risks of stock-outs, excess inventory, and slow-moving stock.
  • Coordinate with Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Manufacturing, Sales, Warehousing, Procurement, and Logistics teams to ensure smooth product flow.
  • Develop transportation plans considering vehicle availability, load utilization, delivery schedules, routes, and cost.

Job Purpose

The Distribution Planning Manager is responsible for developing and executing distribution plans to ensure the right products are available at the right locations, in the right quantities, and at the right time. The role will optimize inventory deployment, transportation capacity, service levels, and distribution costs while supporting business growth and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop short-, medium-, and long-term distribution plans aligned with demand, inventory availability, production plans, and business priorities.
  • Prepare and manage stock deployment plans across warehouses, distribution centers, depots, and customer locations.
  • Translate demand forecasts into actionable distribution and replenishment requirements.
  • Monitor inventory levels across the distribution network and identify risks of stock-outs, excess inventory, and slow-moving stock.
  • Coordinate with Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Manufacturing, Sales, Warehousing, Procurement, and Logistics teams to ensure smooth product flow.
  • Optimize inventory allocation across locations based on demand, service-level requirements, lead times, and business priorities.
  • Develop transportation plans considering vehicle availability, load utilization, delivery schedules, routes, and cost.
  • Track and improve key distribution KPIs such as OTIF, fill rate, inventory days, stock availability, vehicle utilization, distribution cost, and forecast adherence.
  • Identify distribution bottlenecks and proactively develop mitigation plans for capacity constraints, supply shortages, and demand fluctuations.
  • Manage daily/weekly distribution planning and ensure timely execution of dispatch and replenishment plans.
  • Analyze distribution network performance and recommend improvements in warehouse locations, stock norms, transportation modes, and replenishment frequency.
  • Establish appropriate inventory norms and replenishment parameters for different distribution points.
  • Conduct regular reviews of distribution performance and provide insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Use ERP/APS/planning tools and data analytics to improve planning accuracy, visibility, and decision-making.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing logistics costs, improving service levels, and optimizing working capital.
  • Develop dashboards and management reports covering distribution performance, inventory health, service levels, and logistics efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, SOPs, compliance requirements, and safety standards.
