Director Business Development - Smart Factory
We are seeking a consultative problem-solver to drive business development within our IoT & Engineering practice, primarily focusing on the Smart Manufacturing solution area.
We are looking for a leader with solid understanding of the manufacturing functional area and digital systems that help drive transformation, across multiple industry sectors. Industry sectors of interest are discrete equipment (industrial, medical devices etc), process manufacturing industries (Automotive, Aerospace, life sciences/pharma, CPG, food & beverage, chemicals, O&G etc). Areas of understanding in the function need to cover Industry 4.0, Manufacturing Operations Management, Manufacturing Execution Systems, Warehouse Execution Systems, Asset Performance Management, Digital Thread.
Key responsibilities:
- Create and articulate compelling value propositions around smart manufacturing area.
- Develop and execute against the offering strategy that leads to the creation and maintenance of a robust sales pipeline.
- Demonstrated experience in working with partners to generate and sustain demand.
- Manage numerous opportunities across different industry sectors concurrently.
- Analyze points of success and failures and adapt offering and BD strategy.
- Support sales across the entire sales cycle – demand generation, envisioning the solution, working closely with solution teams to prepare proposals and support sales in proposal defense. Influencing business models and pricing form an auxiliary responsibility for this position.
- Engage with marketing activities such as industry event participation, writing thought-leadership articles, engaging advisors/analysts.

- Can you describe your experience in selling (Industry 4.0 solution) within the Smart Manufacturing segment?
- What specific technologies or solutions have you worked with in Smart Manufacturing?
- What experience do you have with Industry 4.0 technologies, such as IoT, AI, Connectivity/5G, AMR/AGV and robotics?
- Can you provide an example of a successful business development strategy you implemented in the Smart Manufacturing sector?
- How do you identify and approach potential clients or partners in this industry?
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent
- 20+ years of proven track record in business development/sales roles in Industry 4.0 segment (Smart Factory)
- Excellent ability and aptitude to influence and communicate effectively with business stakeholders (executive presence)
- Work with an ecosystem of partnerships (hyperscalers, boutique technology companies, etc.)
- Strong technical skills with the ability to find technical solutions to business problems and engage the potential customer with “consultative selling”
- Ability to interface at all levels of an organization
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and executive presentation and persuasion skills are required
- Knowledge of the industry trends, customer pain points, and potential opportunities in various IoT and engineering areas are highly desirable
- Desirable if past experience includes consulting, sales quota attainment and excellence in achieving both annual revenue and profitability targets.
