Job summary

Flipkart Group is seeking a senior leader to own the food safety and quality assurance across its grocery, food, and D2C fulfillment network. You will define strategy, build the team and ensure regulatory compliance, cold-chain integrity, and recall readiness across the distribution network.

You will lead cross-functional teams, coordinate with regulatory bodies, and establish SOPs for temperature-controlled logistics, traceability, and supplier audits.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in food safety/QA with leadership experience
• Bachelor’s/Master’s in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology or related field
• Deep knowledge of FSSAI regulations, HACCP, ISO 22000/FSSC 22000; GMP/GDP
• HACCP Level 4, Lead Auditor, or PCQI certification preferred
• Proven record of regulatory inspections, third-party audits, and crisis/recall management
• Experience designing cold-chain and temperature-controlled logistics standards

Job description

Own food safety and quality assurance across Flipkart’s grocery, food, and direct-to-consumer fulfillment and distribution network. Set the strategy, build the team, and be accountable for regulatory compliance, cold-chain integrity, and recall readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Define & execute strategy: Develop and execute a multi-year food safety and QA roadmap aligned with company growth, expansion into new businesses, and direct-to-consumer logistics.


• Team leadership: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of food safety managers, QA specialists, and facility auditors across fulfillment and distribution networks.


• Regulatory oversight: Serve as primary liaison with regulatory agencies (FSSAI and state food authorities) and manage all third-party audits, inspections, and certifications.


• Supply chain & fulfillment standards: Establish standards and SOPs for cold-chain integrity, temperature monitoring, package thermal performance, shelf-life validation, and ambient/chilled/frozen storage.


• Traceability & recall readiness: Design and manage end-to-end product traceability systems. Maintain rapid-response mock recall procedures and act as crisis lead for quality deviations, vendor issues, or product recalls.


• Supplier & vendor compliance: Oversee vendor approval programs, co-manufacturer oversight, raw material specification standards, and ongoing supplier auditing protocols.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in food safety/QA, with 5+ years in senior leadership (food manufacturing, retail, e-commerce, QSR, or 3PL/cold chain).


• Bachelor’s/Master’s in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, or a related field.


• Deep knowledge of FSSAI regulations, HACCP, ISO 22000/FSSC 22000, and GMP/GDP; exposure to BRCGS/SQF or FSMA is a plus.


• HACCP Level 4, Lead Auditor, or PCQI certification preferred.


• Proven record of leading regulatory inspections, third-party audits, and crisis/recall management.


• Experience designing cold-chain and temperature-controlled logistics standards.


• Experience with traceability, QMS, and supplier-audit tools.
