Job summary

CXOntology seeks a hands-on Digital Architect to own the technical direction for enterprise websites, ecommerce, and mobile app solutions. You will guide teams from discovery through MSO, aligning architecture with client priorities and budgets.

Platforms include Drupal/Acquia, Optimizely, Sitecore, AEM, Contentstack, Shopify, BigCommerce, and commercetools, with data integrations using Snowflake and Informatica. Office is in Chennai, India.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in digital platforms or engineering with enterprise delivery.
• Hands-on delivery across CMS platforms and at least one ecommerce platform.
• Strong web engineering, APIs, and CI/CD with demonstrable output.
• Experience with Acquia Cloud or Pantheon and at least one cloud provider.
• Familiarity with CRM, CDP, marketing tech, and analytics integration.
• Clear client-facing consulting and team leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities

Role Overview:

CXOntology seeks a hands-on Digital Architect to own technical direction for enterprise websites, ecommerce, and mobile app solutions. Guide teams from discovery through production and Maintenance, Support and Operations (MSO), aligning architecture with client priorities and budgets.

Our platforms include Drupal/Acquia, Optimizely, Sitecore, AEM, Contentstack, Shopify, BigCommerce, and commercetools, with data integrations using Snowflake and Informatica.

Key Responsibilities:

Solution Architecture and Ecommerce

• Assess current systems, lead discovery, and define roadmaps. Document architecture decisions, delivery options, integration boundaries, and cost tradeoffs.
• Design ecommerce journeys from catalog and search through checkout, payments, orders, and fulfillment. Define ERP, PIM, OMS, CRM, and identity integrations, including data ownership, reconciliation, and recovery.
• Choose CMS, headless, frontend, and mobile approaches for responsive websites, portals, and iOS/Android integrations. Align content, personalization, MarTech, analytics, SEO/GEO/AEO, and UX requirements.

Cloud and Nonfunctional Requirements

• Select hosting and operating models across Acquia Cloud, Pantheon, AWS, Azure, and GCP. Define environments, CI/CD, caching/CDN, observability, vendor responsibilities, and cost controls.
• Set measurable nonfunctional requirements (NFRs) for performance, scalability, availability, security, privacy, accessibility, and maintainability. Validate response time, load, Core Web Vitals, and recovery objectives (RTO/RPO).
• Agree release acceptance criteria with engineering and QA, including access controls, dependency management, rollback, and tested backup/restore procedures.

Technical Delivery and Client Leadership

• Build prototypes, review code, and troubleshoot critical issues. Mentor technical leads and manage architecture standards, technical debt, dependencies, and runbooks.
• Lead estimates, technical planning, and release readiness across workstreams. Support presales and proposals; explain options and risks to client executives and account teams.
• Use weekly delivery/service reviews and monthly outcome reviews to prioritize improvements in platform health, release quality, conversion or adoption, and operating cost.

Required Skills and Experience:

• 7+ years in digital platforms or engineering, including 4+ years as an architect, technical lead, or solution consultant, with enterprise delivery and production ownership.
• Hands‑on delivery across at least two CMS platforms and one ecommerce platform, including production checkout, payment, order, and integration workflows.
• Strong web engineering, APIs, headless/composable architecture, frontend/backend integration, databases, and CI/CD. Show designs, prototypes, code reviews, or fixes you personally delivered.
• Practical Acquia Cloud or Pantheon experience and at least one of AWS, Azure, or GCP. Demonstrate NFR ownership through performance, security, accessibility, incident, and recovery evidence.
• Working knowledge of CRM, CDP, personalization, marketing automation, GA4, and GTM, including integration requirements and attribution limits.
• Clear client consulting and team leadership. Facilitate decisions, communicate risks early, and remain accountable through implementation and operational adoption; learn unfamiliar platforms as needed.

Preferred Skills:

• Native or cross‑platform mobile architecture covering shared APIs, identity, notifications, and offline behavior; collaboration with iOS/Android or React Native/Flutter teams.
• B2B commerce, multisite/multilingual programs, migrations, data integrations, or AI‑enabled workflows with appropriate data controls.
• Cloud, Acquia, or platform certifications; reusable architectures or community contributions; U.S. or international client experience.

Success in the Role

Solutions meet agreed business and NFR targets, teams deliver predictable releases, and recurring production issues decline. Technical decisions balance customer experience, cost, delivery speed, and maintainability.
