Responsabilidades

• Attach dialyzer and tubing to the machine and prime circuits with 0.9% saline.
• Label dialyser & blood lines with patient name & ID before first use.
• Prepare dialysis solutions and mix bicarbonate per formula.
• Explain dialysis procedure and machine operation to patient.
• Connect haemodialysis machine to patient’s access site to start dialysis.
• Monitor haemodialysis machine for malfunctions.
• Maintain all log books, forms & registers.

Summary of the role

• Attach dialyzer and tubing to machine and prime the extracorporeal circuits with 0.9% normal saline to prepare machine for use.
• Label dialyser & blood lines with patient name & ID prior to the first use (excluded single use).
• Preparing dialysis solutions and mixing bicarbonate according to formula
• Explains dialysis procedure and operation of haemodialysis machine to patient before treatment to allay anxieties.
• Connects haemodialysis machine to patient's access site to initiate dialysis.
• Monitor haemodialysis machine for malfunction.
• Maintain all the log books, forms & registers.
