Job summary

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. seeks an experienced BIW and Structural engineering leader to oversee development across 3W and 4W EV/ICE portfolios. You will define architectures, standards, and DFMEA, while ensuring durability, NVH and regulatory compliance.

This role emphasizes engineering excellence, platform support, and cost-conscious manufacturing through localization and supplier co‑engineering, with strong PLM governance and interface with simulation teams.

Qualifications

• BE Mechanical degree is required.
• Post Graduation in a related field is an advantage.
• 18+ years of experience in BIW/Structural engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead BIW, Structural and Sheet metal system development across platforms.
• Define system architectures, design standards, DFMEA and guidelines.
• Ensure durability, NVH, ride & handling, safety, payload, thermal performance and regulatory compliance.
• Establish engineering excellence frameworks including PLM governance and change management.
• Enable platform teams with timely delivery of BIW designs, validation status, and issue resolution.
• Drive cost competitiveness and manufacturability through VA/VE, localization, and supplier collaboration.
• Interface with Simulation Team for durability and MBD excellence.
• Support proto-build and validation teams to ensure BIW readiness.

Job description

• Own functional leadership and accountability for BIW and Structural systems engineering across 3W and 4W EV/ICE portfolios.
• Providing standardized, robust, and Engineering solutions across platforms.
• Lead BIW, Structural and Sheet metal system development, ensuring domain readiness and technical excellence.
• Define system architectures, design standards, DFMEA, and engineering guidelines to support platform‑led program execution.
• Ensure systems meet durability, NVH, ride & handling, safety, payload, thermal performance, and regulatory requirements through disciplined design and validation practices.
• Establish and govern engineering excellence frameworks, including PLM governance, GD&T rigor, DVP&R execution, design reviews, and change management applicable across all platforms.
• Enable platform teams through timely delivery of BIW system designs, validation status, and technical issue resolution, supporting program milestones and SOP readiness.
• Drive cost competitiveness and manufacturability of BIW systems through target costing, VA/VE, localization, and supplier co‑engineering in collaboration with Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Quality.
• Ensure regulatory, safety, and homologation compliance by design for all BIW systems, supporting platform & homologation teams in certification and launch activities. Collaborate with Vehicle Integration and EPT Integration teams to support system convergence and interface resolution.
• Interface with Simulation Team to leverage durability, NVH, and MBD expertise for mechanical system robustness.
• Support Proto‑build and Validation teams through BIW system readiness and rapid engineering support. Build and sustain strong mechanical engineering capability by developing domain depth, standardization, talent pipelines, and a culture of technical rigor and accountability.
• Having strong domain experience in sheet metal various manufacturing process, metal forming simulation methods, Gigs and Fixture mfg and prove out at assy trials at plant.
