Job summary

V2Soft, Inc. in Chennai seeks a BIW Dimensional Engineer to drive geometry design and GD&T for new car programs. You will lead datum definitions, control plans, and tolerancing for BIW parts, collaborating with PLM tools and weld-metrology teams to ensure precision.

The role requires hands-on CATIA, NX/UG NX, ENOVIA/Teamcenter experience and strong ASME Y14.5 knowledge, with exposure to sheet metal and fixture detailing in an automotive OEM setting.

Qualifications

• 4–10 years of experience in BIW geometry engineering.
• Experience in automobile OEM BIW GD&T and tolerance stack-ups.
• Hands-on CATIA with NX/UG NX and PLM tools.
• Familiarity with welding shop metrology and CMM fixtures.
• Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop BIW geometry design and execution for new car programs.
• Define control plans and datum definitions for BIW lines.
• Release BIW incoming parts and in-house processed tolerancing.
• Develop fixture design and 2D detailing for fabrication.
• Support DVA input/output processes and statistical tolerance methods.

Purpose of the Role

BIW Advance phase Geometry Design development & Execution for new car models.

Define Control plan for the product line & perform BIW Geometry Design feasibility studies

Develop, Propose, negotiate & release BIW incoming parts & inhouse processed product tolerancing, & develop datum plan /PLP .

Reports to the IAP_VPE Manager as well as Global Corporate dimensional Engineering department Process Architect, who fills the project synthesis.

• Hands on Experience with CATIA/NX & ENOVIA/Teamcenter is Must
• CATIA hands on Experience ; Unigraphics Experience would be added advantage
• Well Experienced with Weld shop Metrology- Checking fixtures CMM m/c
• Knowledgeable in all types of Hemming process and C/Measure.
• Knowledgeable in plastic part tolerancing & Vehicle on wheels.
• should have Knowledgeable in DVA process - input process & output inference
