Job summary

Persistent is seeking an experienced Devstudio Designer to implement and maintain Insurance products using the Devstudio toolkit on Oracle/open‑source tech stack. You will design and optimize Oracle objects, build transactional and reporting DBs, and lead a small team of developers.

The role emphasizes delivering technical specs, estimating work, and ensuring QA through coding and peer reviews. A blend of hands-on design and leadership within a hybrid work environment is expected.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in designing and developing Oracle objects.
• Experience with transaction and reporting solutions.
• Experience with performance tuning and SQL profiling.
• Experience in data modelling and ER modelling.
• Good communication and a self-driven approach.
• Java stack experience is desirable.
• Insurance domain experience is preferred.
• Understanding of accounting/finance principles desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop Oracle objects, including packages, procedures, views, materialised views, and triggers for transactional and reporting apps.
• Design and develop Oracle objects for high-performing DB batch processes.
• Design databases for transactional and reporting applications.
• Provide work estimates for proposed changes of varying scope.
• Prepare clear program and module-level technical specifications.
• Perform coding and testing and QA for complex Oracle procedures.
• Conduct peer reviews of team members' work.
• Perform SQL performance tuning, profiling, and monitoring using relevant tools.
• Support benchmarking activities with performance-tuning group.
• Troubleshoot problems and analyse solutions.
• Lead a team of 4-5 developers.

About Position:

We are seeking an experienced Devstudio Designer to implement and maintain Insurance products using the Devstudio toolkit. Devstudio is low-code development platform, built using Oracle and open-source technologies, which enables developers to create application software through graphical user interfaces and configuration.

• Location: All Persistent Location
• Experience: 8 to 10 Years
• Job Type: Full Time Employment

What You'll Do:

• Design and develop Oracle objects, including packages, procedures, views, materialised views, and triggers, for high-performing transactional and reporting applications.
• Design and develop Oracle objects for high-performing database batch processes.
• Design databases for transactional and reporting applications.
• Provide work estimates for proposed changes of varying scope.
• Prepare clear program and module-level technical specifications.
• Perform coding and testing and provide Quality Assurance support for complex Oracle procedures.
• Conduct peer reviews of team members work.
• Perform SQL performance tuning, profiling, and monitoring using relevant tools and applications.
• Support application benchmarking activities in collaboration with the performance-tuning group.
• Troubleshoot technical problems and analyse appropriate solutions.
• Lead a team of 4-5 developers.

Expertise You'll Bring:

• Strong experience in designing and developing Oracle objects such as tables, views, indexes, stored procedures, functions, PL/SQL packages, materialised views, and Dynamic SQL.
• Extensive experience in analysing, designing, and building complex database transaction and reporting solutions.
• Hands-on experience in performance tuning, profiling, and monitoring slow-performing SQL.
• Experience with complex data modelling and entity-relationship modelling.
• Strong understanding of database normalisation, data dictionaries, and schema design techniques.
• Good communication skills with a highly motivated and self-driven approach.
• Experience in object-oriented design and development using the Java technology stack is desirable.
• Experience in application or product performance tuning is preferred.
• Exposure to design frameworks and automation tools is desirable.
• General Insurance domain experience is preferred; Life Insurance experience may also be considered.
• Understanding of accounting, commerce, or finance principles is desirable.
