Job summary

AVEVA in Bengaluru invites a Principal Technologist (IC) to lead hands‑on cloud‑based software design for AVEVA CONNECT. You will mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, and ensure secure, scalable solutions using C#, .NET, Azure, and microservices.

The role requires 12+ years of software engineering experience, strong Azure expertise, and leadership across Product, DevOps, Security, and R&D teams in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong hands‑on expertise in C#, .NET / ASP.NET Core, and enterprise cloud‑based application development.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure and cloud‑native architecture, with experience designing scalable, secure, resilient, and maintainable solutions.
• Strong software design fundamentals, including OOP, SOLID principles, design patterns, and reusable framework/component design.
• Good understanding of microservices, APIs, Docker, containerized applications, and Azure services including AKS/Kubernetes, App Services, Function Apps, Key Vault, RBAC, and Azure Policy.
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server, database design, data access patterns, and application performance considerations.
• Strong engineering quality and security mindset, including automated testing, secure coding, authentication/authorization, dependency risk, and vulnerability remediation.
• Proven ability to make architectural and technical decisions by evaluating scalability, performance, security, maintainability, and delivery trade‑offs.
• Strong technical leadership skills, including mentoring engineers, conducting design/code reviews, defining engineering standards, and collaborating across Development, DevOps, Security, Product, and R&D teams.
• Ability to translate business and product requirements into technical designs, executable backlogs, dependencies, estimates, and realistic delivery plans.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with Product Owner, stakeholders, and Scrum Team to design and implement software solutions meeting business needs.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily Scrum, sprint reviews and retrospectives.
• Collaborate with Customer Support to troubleshoot issues and drive timely resolutions.
• Develop high‑quality, maintainable, and scalable code fully reviewed, unit tested, and documented.
• Analyze, design, implement, and validate security requirements aligned with cybersecurity practices.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices, development processes, and product quality.

The role requires strong expertise in C#, .NET, Azure, cloud‑native architecture, microservices, containers, databases, and secure software engineering. Working closely with Product, Development, DevOps, Security, and other R&D teams, the successful candidate will drive architectural decisions, mentor engineers, establish engineering standards, and translate business requirements into robust technical solutions and delivery plans.

Key responsibilities

• Work closely with the Product Owner, stakeholders, and Scrum Team to understand, define, design, and implement software solutions that meet business and customer needs.

• Strong operational awareness, including observability, logging, monitoring, troubleshooting, performance diagnostics, and production support.
• Experience with technical discovery, prototypes/POCs, architecture documentation, and communicating technical decisions across teams.
• Knowledge or practical experience with AI, Generative AI, AI‑enabled applications, and AI‑assisted software development.
• Experience with Angular or other modern front‑end frameworks.

Hybrid working
