Job summary

Talent Corner Hr Services seeks an experienced Design Engineer with a focus on automotive parts. The role requires expert CATIA/SolidWorks experience, strong GD&T knowledge, and a track record in DFm/ DFA optimization across body-in-white and chassis components.

With 3+ years in core design engineering, you will draft complex assemblies, perform tolerance analyses, and prepare formal engineering documentation.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of core design engineering experience.
• Domain: Automotive Parts Design (Body-in-White, interior/exterior trim, powertrain components, chassis, or structural parts).
• GD&T standards: ASME Y14.5 / ISO 1101 knowledge is expected.

Responsibilities

• CAD Modeling & Design: Create complex 3D CAD models and assemblies using CATIA (Must) and SolidWorks.
• 2D Drafting & Detailing: Generate precise 2D drawings with GD&T per ISO/ASME standards.
• Tolerance Analysis: Perform tolerance stack-up analyses for proper fit and function.
• Design Validation: Collaborate with simulations, manufacturing, and quality teams to optimize for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA).
• Engineering Documentation: Prepare BOMs, ECR/ECOs, design documents and technical specs.

Role & responsibilities

• CAD Modeling & Design: Create complex 3D CAD models and assemblies of automotive components using CATIA ( Must ) and SolidWorks.
• 2D Drafting & Detailing: Generate precise 2D manufacturing drawings with advanced application of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) according to ISO/ASME standards.
• Component Design & DFM/DFA: Design parts optimized for various manufacturing techniques -
• Casting & Forging: Draft angles, parting lines, wall thickness uniformity, and machining allowances.
• Sheet Metal: Bending allowances, notch design, stamping, and press tools considerations.
• Plastic Parts: Injection molding design rules, ribs, bosses, snap fits, and sink mark prevention.
• Weldments & Structural Joining: Welded assembly design, joint preparation, and distortion considerations.
• Tolerance Analysis: Perform tolerance stack-up analyses to ensure proper fitment, clearance, and functional performance within complex automotive assemblies.
• Design Validation: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (simulation, manufacturing, quality) to validate designs and optimize for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA).
• Engineering Documentation: Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM), engineering change requests (ECR/ECO), design documents, and technical specs.

Preferred candidate profile

Experience & Domain

Experience: Minimum 3+ years of core design engineering experience.

Domain expertise: Proven track record in Automotive Parts Design (Body-in-White, interior/exterior trim, powertrain components, chassis, or structural parts).

Software Skills

CATIA V5 / V6 / 3DEXPERIENCE: Must-have expert level in Part Design, Assembly, Generative Shape Design (GSD), and Drafting.

SolidWorks: Proficient in 3D modeling, sheet metal, weldments, and drawings.

Technical Skills & Knowledge

GD&T Expertise: Mastery in ASME Y14.5 / ISO 1101 standards, including datum features, position tolerances, and feature control frames. Manufacturing Processes: Solid understanding of manufacturing techniques for castings, sheet metal, plastic injection parts, and welded structures.

Materials Selection: Good knowledge of automotive plastics, metallic alloys, surface treatments, and heat treatments.

Problem Solving: Ability to identify design flaws, run root-cause analysis, and propose effective design modifications.
