Job summary

Orbit Bearings in Rajkot, Gujarat, is seeking a Design Engineer to design and develop Spherical Roller Bearings (SRB). The role covers bearing design, technical calculations, application analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure product performance.

The candidate should have 3–8 years of experience in bearing design, with proficiency in 2D/3D CAD tools and knowledge of SRB design parameters. ME/ MTech is advantageous.

Qualifications

BE/BTech in Mechanical Engineering; ME/MTech advantageous.
3–8 years of experience in bearing design and development.
Experience with Spherical Roller Bearings or other rolling bearing products.
Proficient in 2D/3D CAD tools (AutoCAD/SolidWorks/ Creo/ CATIA).

Responsibilities

Design and develop Spherical Roller Bearings as per customer and application requirements.
Perform bearing design calculations including load rating, life calculation, speed, clearance, and internal geometry.
Prepare and review 2D drawings, 3D models, BOMs, and technical specifications.
Analyze customer applications and recommend suitable bearing solutions.
Develop internal bearing geometry including rollers, raceways, cages, and related components.
Support development of new bearing products from concept through validation and production.
Coordinate with Manufacturing, Quality, Production, Sales, and Testing teams during product development.
Conduct technical analysis and investigate bearing performance and failure-related issues.
Participate in product testing, validation and continuous design improvement activities.
Maintain design documents, engineering records, drawings, and revision history.
Support customers and internal teams with technical queries related to bearing applications and performance.
Ensure designs comply with applicable industry standards and customer specifications.

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Design Engineer with experience in the design and development of Spherical Roller Bearings (SRB). The candidate will be responsible for bearing design, technical calculations, application analysis, product development, and coordination with cross-functional teams to ensure successful development and performance of products.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop Spherical Roller Bearings as per customer and application requirements.
Perform bearing design calculations, including load rating, life calculation, speed, clearance, and internal geometry.
Prepare and review 2D drawings, 3D models, BOMs, and technical specifications.
Analyse customer applications and recommend suitable bearing solutions.

Required Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of Spherical Roller Bearings and rolling bearing fundamentals.
Knowledge of bearing design parameters, internal geometry, load distribution, and bearing life calculations.
Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, or equivalent.
Knowledge of engineering calculations and technical analysis.
Understanding of manufacturing processes related to bearings will be an added advantage.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Good communication and cross-functional coordination abilities.

Qualification

B.E./B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering
M.E./M.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering will be an added advantage.

Experience

3 to 8 years of relevant experience in bearing design and development, preferably with experience in Spherical Roller Bearings or other rolling bearing products.
