Job summary

Orbit Bearings invites Application Engineers to translate customer expectations into robust technical proposals. You will model rolling bearings and drive systems, perform detailed calculations, and use Romax to compare design options for best customer value.

The role emphasizes collaboration with R&D and Quality teams, documenting requirements, and presenting clear design concepts with performance estimates. 4–8 years in automotive bearings or drivetrain design is ideal.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical and automotive engineering knowledge.
• Ability to collect, document, and interpret customer requirements for new projects.
• Experience in aligning customer needs with internal design input.
• Hands-on problem solving and technical troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible to manage excellent technical relations with customers, especially with R&D and Quality Management functions.
• Collect, document, and interpret application requirements of the customers for new projects and align the same with Orbit to build design input.
• Work on modelling of rolling bearings and drive systems and carry out load, stress and dynamic simulations using Romax.
• Interpret, verify results from the software and present optimum solutions with value for customers.
• Develop new designs with R&D or redesign existing solutions and present concepts with criteria, features and performance estimation.

Role & responsibilities

Application Engineers represent the technical face of the company to its customers and will play vital role in translating customer expectations into sound and successful technical proposal on the behalf of ORBIT

Key responsibilities include:

• Be responsible to manage excellent technical relations with the companys customers especially with R&D and Quality Management functions.
• Collect, document, and interpret application requirements of the customers for new projects and align the same with the internal functions at Orbit to build comprehensive and qualitative design input.
• Work on modelling of rolling bearings and drive systems, carry out detailed calculations including – but not limited to load and stress distribution, and running dynamic simulations using advanced software like Romax.
• Interpret, verify results from the software, assess performance outcomes of various design alternatives and present optimum solution with the goal of creating real value for the customers.
• Together with R&D team, develop new and innovative designs for customer projects or make a proposal to redesign an existing solution for enhanced performance. Present design solutions to customers concisely with clarity on the application concept, design criteria , product features and performance estimation.

Preferred candidate profile

Education:

Must: B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering with excellent academic track record

And: Masters in Engineering preferred

Skills :

Strong mechanical and automotive engineering competence

Good system level understanding of wheel end, transmission, transaxle applications

Proficiency in modelling and simulation software – Romax or similar preferred

Some exposure to EV drive train proffered.

Technical Problem-solving skills with hands on approach,

Good communication and documentation skills.

Experience:

4 to 8 years of Application engineering experience with exposure to new product design, development, and project management for bearings/ drive train components in automotive area.

Experience in technical problem solving, returned part analysis, bearing installation support preferred.
