Job summary

ALTEN India in Chennai is seeking a CAD engineer to execute 3D modelling and author complex assemblies using CATIA V5/V6, and to create and update 2D drawings for prototypes and releases.

You will remaster CAD data, manage PLM records, evaluate design proposals, and perform tolerance analyses and design-rule checks, ensuring compliance with Ford drafting standards and ASME GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Execute 3D modelling of components and author complex assemblies using CATIA V5/V6
• Develop and evaluate design proposals to meet functional, manufacturing, packaging, and program requirements
• Perform CAD remastering from native CAD files without loss of data and parametric integrity
• Create & maintain component and assembly data within the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system
• Perform Powertrain packaging and integration studies for affected components/assemblies using surrogate parts at the vehicle level
• Conduct Clearance, Interference, and Design-rule-check analyses to identify and resolve potential design concerns
• Perform Fastener, Linear, and Radial tolerance stack-up analyses at both component and assembly levels
• Create detailed new Component and Assembly drawings for Prototype and Initial Release Builds/Milestones
• Update 3D Models and 2D Engineering drawings in response to approved Engineering Change Notices (ECNs)
• check drawing prints for strict compliance with Ford Drafting Standards and ASME GD&T standards
• Complete the Initial and Post P release activities for Notices covering affected new tool-end items, as well as previously released parts and assemblies
