Layam is seeking a Product Design & Development Engineer in Vadodara to design and develop plastic components with an emphasis on manufacturability and cost-efficiency. You will collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and suppliers to optimize designs and ensure feasible injection-molded parts.

The role requires 4-5 years of experience, strong CAD skills (Creo or UG/NX), and expertise in BOM management, tolerances, and GD&T.

Role Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Product Design & Development Engineer with 4-5 years of experience in designing and developing plastic components. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of injection molding processes, vacuum forming,

BOM management, and proficiency in 3D CAD software like Creo or UG

(Unigraphics/NX).

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop plastic components for various products, ensuring manufacturability and cost-eectiveness.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, and suppliers, to develop and optimize designs.
• Ensure design feasibility by applying knowledge of injection molding techniques and material selection.
• Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) with accuracy and consistency.
• Utilize 3D CAD software (Creo/UG) for part design, assembly, and technical drawings.
• Conduct DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFA (Design for Assembly)studies to enhance product quality and eiciency.
• Collaborate with vendors and tooling partners for mold design, validation, and troubleshooting.
• Support prototyping, testing, and validation of new designs to ensure compliance with performance and quality standards.

Key Requirements:

• 4-5 years of experience in product design and development of plastic parts.
• Strong knowledge of injection molding processes, material behavior, and tooling.
• Proficiency in Creo or UG (Unigraphics/NX) for 3D modeling and detailing.
• Experience in BOM (Bill of Materials) management and engineering documentation.
• Good understanding of manufacturing constraints, tolerances, and GD&T.
• Ability to analyze and resolve design and production challenges.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in the luggage, automotive, or consumer goods industry.
• Knowledge of CAE analysis, FEA tools, and mold flow simulation is a plus.
