Job Title: Senior Engineer - Mould Design
Job Description:
The Design Engineer will be responsible for designing thermoplastic injection molds using UG NX, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD. The role involves mold flow analysis, preparation of engineering drawings, manufacturability analysis, mold trials, troubleshooting, and coordination with tooling and production teams to ensure high-quality mold performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design thermoplastic injection molds (Hot Runner & Cold Runner) using UG NX, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD.
- Understand and apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) concepts in mold design.
- Analyze product part designs for manufacturability and suggest design improvements when required.
- Develop detailed 2D drawings and 3D models for mold designs and modifications.
- Prepare and maintain mold design documentation including BOM, drawings, and revision history.
- Coordinate with tooling engineers, machinists, and production teams during mold manufacturing and debugging activities.
- Perform Moldflow analysis and thermal simulations to optimize part quality and reduce cycle time.
- Ensure mold designs meet safety, dimensional accuracy, and performance standards.
- Support mold trials, troubleshooting, inspections, and continuous improvement activities.
- Work with different materials, machining methods, and mold manufacturing processes.
- Support mold maintenance and repair-related activities when required.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of injection mold design and manufacturing processes
- Hands-on experience in UG NX, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Moldflow tools
- Good understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T standards
- Familiarity with Moldex3D / Autodesk Moldflow is an added advantage
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and teamwork abilities
- Knowledge of mold inspections, maintenance, and repair practices
