Job summary

Onward Technologies seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer with deep experience in Siemens UG NX Sheet Metal for heavy machinery applications. You will design, model, and validate sheet metal enclosures and assemblies using UG NX, with emphasis on manufacturability and GD&T compliance.

Primary responsibilities include 3D modeling, 2D detailing, BOM management in Teamcenter, and close collaboration with manufacturing and prototyping teams to resolve production issues.

Qualifications

• Education: B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• Proficiency in Siemens UG NX (Sheet Metal, Part and Assembly).
• Experience with Teamcenter PLM is a major plus.
• Industry focus on Heavy Machinery and heavy engineering.

Responsibilities

• 3D Modeling & Design: Create and optimize robust 3D models and large assemblies using Siemens NX Sheet Metal.
• 2D Drafting & Detailing: Generate manufacturing drawings, flat patterns, and layouts with GD&T.
• Design for Manufacturing (DFM): Optimize designs for bending, laser cutting, welding, and press shop.
• BOM Management: Prepare and manage BOMs in PLM systems like Teamcenter.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with manufacturing, tool room, and prototyping teams.

Job Title:Design Engineer / Senior Design Engineer UG NX Sheet Metal (Heavy Machinery)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer specializing in UG NX Sheet Metal Design to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, modeling, and validating complex sheet metal components, enclosures, structures, and assemblies tailored for heavy machinery and heavy engineering applications.

The ideal candidate will have deep functional expertise in Siemens NX (Unigraphics) along with a strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes, welding, and GD&T standards.

Key Responsibilities

• 3D Modeling & Design: Create and optimize robust 3D models and large assemblies of heavy machinery components using Siemens NX Sheet Metal application.
• 2D Drafting & Detailing: Generate detailed manufacturing/production drawings, flat patterns, and layout designs incorporating precise GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
• Design for Manufacturing (DFM): Ensure designs are fully optimized for fabrication shop floor capabilities including bending, laser cutting, welding, and press shop operations.
• BOM Management: Prepare and manage complete Bill of Materials (BOM) and documentation within PLM systems like Teamcenter.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate closely with the manufacturing, tool room, and prototyping teams to resolve technical issues during production and assembly trials.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Education: B.E. / B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related stream.
• Software Expertise: Extensive experience in Siemens UG NX (specifically Sheet Metal, Part, and Assembly modules). Knowledge of Teamcenter PLM is a major plus.
• Industry Domain: Proven experience working on Heavy Machinery, heavy equipment, industrial enclosures, or earthmoving structures.
• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of raw materials (Steel, Aluminum alloys), bend allowances, K-factor calculation, welding symbols, and structural integrity.
