1. Job Description
Role Purpose

Execute discipline design and support multidisciplinary engineering coordination from conceptual and basic engineering through detailed engineering, construction support, commissioning and as-built close‑out for integrated steel and power projects. The role converts approved design bases and process requirements into safe, compliant, constructible, cost‑effective and operationally reliable engineering deliverables while maintaining strict control of interfaces, revisions and technical records.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Interpret the approved design basis, process criteria, project specifications, statutory requirements, codes, vendor inputs and site constraints for the assigned package.
  2. Prepare and check engineering calculations, specifications, data sheets, design notes, BOQs/MTOs, technical requisitions and schedules within delegated authority.
  3. Develop or review General Arrangement drawings, P&IDs, Single Line Diagrams, equipment and piping layouts, structural drawings, cable‑routing plans, utility networks and other discipline deliverables relevant to the package.
  4. Maintain the assigned deliverable register, input register, interface matrix, comment log and engineering schedule; forecast constraints and elevate risks before construction need dates are affected.
  5. Coordinate Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Process, Piping, Electrical, Instrumentation, Utilities and Architectural interfaces and close clashes, omissions, inconsistencies and battery‑limit gaps.
  6. Review consultant, licensor, EPC contractor, OEM and vendor drawings/documents for compliance, completeness, maintainability, constructability and interface alignment; issue consolidated comments within the agreed cycle.
  7. Participate in 3D/BIM model reviews, clash detection, constructability, technical‑risk, HAZOP/design‑safety and value‑engineering reviews.
  8. Support procurement through technical specifications, bid clarification, technical bid evaluation, vendor‑data review and confirmation that purchase requirements reflect the approved design intent.
  9. Resolve RFIs and field issues; assess modifications and deviations; and protect design integrity through authorized technical, change and revision control.
  10. Support construction, commissioning and handover through site verification, punch resolution, red‑line control, withdrawal of superseded documents and timely, accurate as‑built records.
Critical First-Year Outcomes
  1. Approved package design basis, deliverable schedule and interface register aligned to procurement and construction need dates.
  2. Accurate, coordinated and constructible AFC/IFC deliverables with no known high‑severity clash released to site.
  3. Timely closure of vendor comments, RFIs and field issues without uncontrolled design deviation.
  4. Reduced design‑caused rework through disciplined checking, BIM/clash coordination and field feedback.
  5. Current red‑lines and complete, traceable as‑built records accepted at system/package handover.
Candidate Profile
Minimum qualification

B.E. / B.Tech in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Chemical/Process or another discipline relevant to the assigned package.

Preferred qualification

M.E. / M.Tech or postgraduate training in the relevant design discipline, industrial plant engineering, BIM/digital engineering or project engineering is preferred.

Mandatory / preferred credentials

Working knowledge of applicable IS, BIS, NBC, IEC, IEEE, ASME, API and package‑specific codes. Relevant BIM/3D, functional‑safety, chartered‑engineer or OEM/software credentials are preferred.

Industry exposure

Integrated steel, captive power, metals, mining, cement, heavy engineering, process plant or EPC/EPCM engineering.

Greenfield / commissioning

Greenfield or major Brownfield design and site‑engineering exposure covering vendor documents, interfaces, construction queries, commissioning support and as‑built closure.

Digital / software capability

AutoCAD and advanced Excel, plus at least one relevant platform such as Revit, Navisworks, Plant 3D, Tekla, STAAD.Pro, ETABS, ETAP, EPLAN, AVEVA or SmartPlant. EDMS and SAP/ERP exposure is preferred.

  1. Technical depth in one engineering discipline with working knowledge of adjacent steel‑plant and power‑project interfaces.
  2. Calculations, specifications, drawings, BOQ/MTO development and disciplined design checking.
  3. Multidisciplinary coordination, constructability, clash resolution and site‑engineering support.
  4. Code interpretation, design safety, technical‑risk assessment and formal deviation/change control.
  5. 3D/BIM and CAD/design‑tool proficiency, EDMS discipline, data accuracy and revision traceability.
