ABB in Bangalore seeks a seasoned mechanical design engineer to craft and modify standard designs for weighing/rolling mill applications. You will produce drawings and calculations, and participate in design reviews to ensure compliance with contract specifications.

You will also ensure BOMs meet contractual obligations and margins, coordinate with manufacturing and testing, and help advance reusable design processes while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's or Master's in mechanical/electrical engineering.
  • 5–7 years of mechanical design experience in weighing or rolling mill applications.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks, Inventor and AutoCAD.
  • Experience with DFMEA and BOM creation.

Responsibilities

  • Design/modify standard designs of equipment, systems, or installations with drawings and calculations per contract specifications.
  • Contribute to design reviews and design verification; modify designs as necessary.
  • Update engineering deliverables as-built and ensure BOM meets contractual obligations and project gross margins.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing and testing to ensure designs are manufactured/staged/tested.
  • Develop new processes/tools for reuse of technical solutions using standard processes.

Main stakeholders include Design Engineers, Manufacturing/Production Teams, Quality & DFMEA Teams, Machine Assembly Technicians, Automation & Controls Engineers, and End Customers requiring weighing or rolling mill solutions.You will be mainly accountable for:Contributing to the preparation of specific aspects of design assignments to meet the contractual obligations, adhering to relevant standards, safety, cybersecurity, and quality requirements.Ensuring that Bill of Materials for the project meets contractual obligations and project gross margin requirements by not generating Project Left-Over Material.Coordinating with manufacturing and testing functions to ensure the designs are appropriately manufactured / staged and tested, updating the engineering deliverables as built.Using standard processes and tools and assisting in developing new processes and tools for the reuse of technical solutions.Qualifications for the role:Diploma or Bachelor's or master’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or related filedMinimum 5 to 7 years of experience in mechanical designing and engineering in weighing or rolling mill application and proficient in solid works, inventor and AutoCADExperience creating bill of materials and product structure and new machine design, programming and machine operations according to customer specifications and performing machine assembly based on mechanical drawing specificationExperience in conducting Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA).
