Job summary

Designtech Systems in Bengaluru seeks an automotive plastic design engineer to develop 2-wheeler components using UG NX. You will create Class-A surfaces, draft 2D drawings, and coordinate with tooling, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure design feasibility.

Responsibilities include 3D modelling, surfacing, BOM preparation, and implementing customer OEM requirements. You will participate in design reviews and support DFM/ DFA during prototype and production phases.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in 3D modelling and surfacing for automotive plastics.
• Strong knowledge of Class-A surface development.
• Familiarity with GD&T and BOM documentation.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams (tooling, injection moulding, manufacturing, quality).
• UG NX proficiency preferred.

• Design and develop 2-wheeler plastic components using UG NX.
• Create and modify Class-A and engineering surfaces as required.
• Develop plastic components such as body panels, covers, fenders, housings, brackets, ducts, trims, and related parts.
• Perform 3D modelling, surfacing, part detailing, and design modifications.
• Apply automotive plastic design principles, including:
• Draft analysis
• Wall thickness
• Ribs and bosses
• Fillets and radii
• Snap-fits and clips
• Parting-line considerations
• Tooling feasibility
• Prepare and maintain 2D drawings, GD&T, BOMs, and design documentation.
• Incorporate customer/OEM requirements and engineering change requests.
• Coordinate with tooling, injection moulding, manufacturing, quality, and supplier teams.
• Support DFM/DFA and mould feasibility reviews.
• Resolve design and manufacturing issues during prototype and production stages.
• Participate in design reviews, prototype validation, and engineering changes.
• Maintain design data and follow company CAD standards and release procedures.
