Job summary

Mahindra & Mahindra Limited is seeking a Deputy Manager - SQE for TRIMS BEV with 6–10 years of automotive experience. The role focuses on seating systems, soft trims, belts, airbags, and related components.

You will monitor supplier performance and drive systemic improvements. The ideal candidate will manage root cause analysis, PPAP activities, audits, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure quality and timely delivery of seating system parts.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of seating, belts, airbags and related systems.
• Experience with seat manufacturing and soft trims processes.
• Proficient in PPT and advanced Excel, Power BI.
• Familiar with APQP/PPAP, 8D, SPC, SCAP, GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with suppliers for seating system parts and drive corrective actions.
• Lead root-cause analysis and action planning for defects in seating components.
• Participate in PPAP activities and ensure PSW/PPAP readiness.
• Conduct supplier process and product audits as required.

Job description

Deputy Manager - SQE, TRIMS BEV Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

Commodity: TRIMS

• Knowledge of Seating System parts & Soft Trims- Seat manufacturing process like Frame manufacturing & assembly (stamping/tube bending, welding etc), Trim cover manufacturing (Fabric/leather materials, sewing), Foam moulding, Seat assembly (recliner & slider installation, track assembly, Torquing) & Seat Craftsmanship evaluation and EOL testing.
• Knowledge of Seat ventilation/ heating system,
• Knowledge of Airbags (DAB/PAB/SAB), Deployment assessment & cable/wiring layouts.
• knowledge of Seat Belt Functionality & Retractor Mechanisms, Buckle and Anchorage Systems.
• Knowledge of soft trim manufacturing processes like Thermoforming / Compression Molding, Fabric Lamination & Wrapping, Adhesive Bonding Processes, Cutting and Trimming Operations.
• Supplier Performance monitoring, evaluation & drive performance improvement through systemic approach.
• Monitor & improve non-performing suppliers and organize periodic Quality reviews as per escalation matrix.
• Supplier dealings, communications & regular interactions for continual improvements & process upgradations.
• Trouble shooting of Trims parts defects and independently drive actions & process improvements at supplier end.
• Participation, Co-ordination & resolution of concern reported from assembly line, Field, User plant for Seating System parts through root cause analysis, action planning, implementation effectiveness & system closure SCAP, 8D monitoring.
• Chronic concern resolution through systemic problem solving methodology and horizontal deployment.
• Ensure that the lessons learned from product families are implemented for new product development as input for prevention of repeated known issues
• Involvement in new product development, identifying and driving improvements through early involvement in product development Process and completion of PPAP
• Re-PPAP & PSW for identified critical carryover parts in new Project
• Plan and Conduct Supplier process & Product audits, Concern based/Special Process audits as per requirement

Experience 6 to 10 years Industry Preferred Automotive Qualifications BE/B Tech Mechanical/polymer technology General Requirements

• Thorough Knowledge of Seat, Seat Belts, Airbags, Carpets & Roof liners etc.
• Knowledge of Seating & Soft Trims Manufacturing Process- Frame manufacturing & assembly, Trim cover manufacturing, Foam moulding, Seat assembly & craftsmenship, Fabric lamination & Adhesive Bonding, Cutting & Trimming operations, Thermoforming process etc.
• Proficient in Microsoft PPT & Advanced Excel applications, Power BI applications
• Quality concerns resolutions through systemic approach/problem solving tools.
• Thorough knowledge on APQP/PPAP, DCP, SPC, SCAP, 8D, GD&T, FTG, etc.
• Basic & advance problem solving tools & techniques.
• Good communication skills for supplier dealings & regular interactions.
