Job summary

Adani Power Limited (APL) invites an experienced Control Room/Lead Desk/FGD-Switchyard Engineer to join our Gujarat-based thermal power plants. You will monitor and operate Boiler, Turbine, Generator, and switchyard systems, ensuring optimal performance and safe start-up/shutdown procedures.

The role requires 6+ years in power plant operations, with emphasis on thermal plants and adherence to safety and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Minimum 6+ years of experience in power plant operations, focusing on thermal plants.
• Experience in the power generation industry, specifically with thermal power plants, is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and operate plant systems including Boiler, Turbine, Generator, BOP and switchyard.
• Execute start-up and shut-down operations of plant systems.
• Maintain plant parameter logs and respond to deviations.
• Perform routine equipment changeovers and trial of emergency drives.
• Handle emergencies related to BTG and coordinate responses.
• Ensure safe isolation and normalisation of equipment.
• Promote energy conservation focusing on SOC, APC, Demineralised (DM) Water, and Heat Rate.
• Oversee Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) operations and monitor system parameters.
• Adhere to IMS, AWMS, DISHA, CHETNA guidelines within the department.
• Notify and report defects and problems in the plant to the shift in charge in a timely manner.

Job Purpose

This role is responsible to monitor and operate plant systems, including Boiler, Turbine, Generator, BOP, switchyard and transformer area ensuring their optimal performance and executing necessary start‑up and shut‑down procedures. This role also performs and monitors Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) operations, maintaining equipment, promoting energy conservation, and ensuring environmental compliance.

Responsibilities

• Control Room Engineer/Lead Desk Engineer /Lead FGD/ Switchyard Engineer.
• Monitor Boiler, Turbine, Generator, BOP and Electrical Systems to ensure optimal performance.
• Execute start‑up and shut‑down operations of the plant systems as required.
• Maintain close observation of plant parameters and respond promptly to any deviations.
• Perform routine changeover of equipment and trial of emergency drives.
• Handle plant emergencies related to Boiler‑Turbine‑Generator (BTG) and coordinate responses.
• Manage emergencies related to switchyards and grid problems to minimise impact on operations.
• Ensure safe isolation and normalisation of equipment in response to operational needs or emergencies.
• Perform Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) operations and monitor FGD system parameters.
• Maintain all plant parameter logbooks accurately and up‑to‑date.
• Promote energy conservation in all activities, focusing on Specific Oil Consumption (SOC), Auxiliary Power Consumption (APC), Demineralised (DM) Water usage, and Heat Rate.
• Monitor critical chemistry parameters to ensure environmental compliance and operational efficiency.
• Implement and oversee FGD operations to reduce emissions and comply with environmental regulations.
• Ensure adherence to IMS, AWMS, DISHA, CHETNA guidelines within the department.
• Maintain safety of personnel and equipment through proper training and adherence to safety protocols.
• Adhere to Permit to Work (PTW) systems and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Notify and report defects and problems in the plant to the shift in charge in a timely manner.
• Execute comprehensive digitisation strategies to optimise operational efficiency.
• Implement automation solutions to support overall organisational goals and strategy.
• Implement process and system improvements, adopting newer technologies and innovative ideas.

Qualifications
