Job summary

Adani Power Limited (APL) seeks an experienced Plant Engineer to monitor and operate boiler, turbine, generator, BOP, switchyard and transformer systems, ensuring reliable performance and enforcing start-up and shut-down procedures.

You will oversee Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) operations, promote energy conservation, monitor critical process parameters, and maintain accurate logbooks to support environmental compliance and safety.

Qualifications

  • Educational Qualification: BE/B.Tech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Work Experience: Minimum 9+ years in power plant operations.
  • Preferred Industry: Thermal power plant experience is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor boiler, turbine, generator, BOP, switchyard and transformer systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Execute start-up and shut-down procedures and manage equipment changes.

Job Purpose

This role is responsible for monitoring and operating plant systems, including Boiler, Turbine, Generator, BOP, switchyard and transformer area, ensuring their optimal performance and executing mandatory start‑up and shut‑down procedures. The engineer must also perform and monitor Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) operations, maintain equipment, promote energy conservation and guarantee environmental compliance.

Responsibilities
  • System Monitoring and Operations:
    • Monitor Boiler, Turbine, Generator, BOP, and Electrical Systems to ensure optimal performance.
    • Execute start‑up and shut‑down operations of the plant systems.
    • Maintain close observation of plant parameters and respond promptly to any deviations.
    • Perform routine change‑over of equipment and trial of emergency drives.
  • Emergency Response and Equipment Handling:
    • Handle plant emergencies related to Boiler‑Turbine‑Generator (BTG) and coordinate responses.
    • Manage emergencies related to switchyards and grid problems to minimise impact on operations.
    • Ensure safe isolation and normalisation of equipment in response to operational needs or emergencies.
    • Perform Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) operations and monitor FGD system parameters.
    • Maintain all plant parameter logbooks accurately and up to date.
  • Energy Conservation and Environmental Compliance:
    • Promote energy conservation focusing on Specific Oil Consumption (SOC), Auxiliary Power Consumption (APC), De‑Mineralised (DM) water usage, and Heat Rate.
    • Monitor critical chemistry parameters to ensure environmental compliance and operational efficiency.
    • Implement and oversee FGD operations to reduce emissions and comply with environmental regulations.
  • Business Sustainability:
    • Ensure adherence to IMS, AWMS, DISHA, CHETNA guidelines within the department.
    • Maintain safety of personnel and equipment through proper training and adherence to safety protocols.
    • Adhere to Permit to Work (PTW) systems and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
    • Notify and report defects or problems in the plant to the shift in charge in a timely manner.
  • Digitisation and Automation:
    • Execute comprehensive digitisation strategies to optimise operational efficiency.
    • Implement automation solutions to support overall organisational goals/strategy.
    • Implement process and system improvements, adopting newer technologies and innovative ideas.

Qualifications
  • Educational Qualification: BE/B.Tech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field from a recognised institution.
  • Work Experience: Minimum 9+ years of experience in power plant operations with focus on thermal power plants.
  • Preferred Industry: Experience in the power generation industry, specifically with thermal power plants, is highly preferred.
