Job summary

Schneider Electric in India seeks a Mechanical Engineer with 3–5 years of LV switchgear design experience to contribute to BOM preparation, CAD modelling, and SAP data maintenance. The role involves collaborating with engineering, manufacturing and sales teams to deliver high-quality assemblies and effective solutions.

You will drive process improvements, cost optimisation, and value engineering to enhance margins while handling change control and documentation in a dynamic plant environment.

Qualifications

• BE - Mechanical degree required, 3–5 years of LV switchgear design
• Experience with SAP BOM/ERP processes
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Prepare the Mechanical BOM for Low voltage switchboard per requirements
• Autonomy to propose and develop complex technical solutions
• Design custom assemblies when standard ones do not exist
• Complete all orders and projects with quality
• Coordinate with Plant manufacturing and front-end sales for technical support
• Revision control of drawings and change management
• Drive process improvement activities
• Lead value engineering and cost optimisation projects
• Take up stretched assignments as needed
• Upload and maintain BOMs in SAP

Job description

Key Responsibilities / Deliverables:

1. Prepare the Mechanical Bill of Material for the Low voltage switchboard as per the customer/Electrical requirements & R&D guideline.
2. Autonomy to propose and develop complex technical solutions
3. Design custom assemblies based on custom requirements, in case non-existence of standard assemblies.
4. Completing all the orders and projects with expected quality.
5. Close co – ordination with the Plant manufacturing & front-end sales for the technical support
6. Drawing revision, Control of drawings & manages the change Management
7. Involving & driving the various process improvement activities
8. Driving the Value Engineering & Cost optimisation projects to improve the margin
9. Take up stretched assignments as and when needed.
10. Uploading and maintaining the BOMs in SAP

Skills:

1. Knowledge of IEC 61439 standard & Low voltage Panel Design & manufacturing.
2. 2D CAD in Autocad & 3D modelling in Creo – sheet metal, Assembly, Drawings
3. Sheet metal processing & manufacturing.
4. SAP – ERP management (Material Management module)
5. Excellent in verbal and written communication
6. Project Management
7. Excellent Analytical & Problem-Solving skills
8. Should be able to interact with Electrical Engineers, Customers, Project Managers, and Trainers to seek design solutions
9. Knowledge on Excel power Automate, Power Queries, Excel Macros will be added advantage
