Job summary

Vensure Employer Solutions is seeking a Database Administrator to support and maintain all aspects of SQL Server environments in India. The role requires optimizing performance, ensuring high availability, and leading disaster recovery planning.

You will collaborate with developers and system administrators to secure and streamline database operations, and you will mentor junior DBAs while participating in after-hours support as needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a database administrator.
• In-depth knowledge of SQL Server, T-SQL, and database performance optimization techniques.
• Strong experience with high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) technologies (e.g., clustering, replication).
• Proficiency in database security, including encryption, access control, and auditing.
• Hands-on experience with PowerShell scripting and automation of database tasks.

Responsibilities

• Ensure high performance and uptime of all database systems.
• Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases to support business applications.
• Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing, and system configuration adjustments.
• Design and implement database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Manage database security protocols, including data encryption, authentication, and RBAC.
• Write and optimize complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers to improve performance.
• Oversee the migration of databases across servers or platforms, such as SQL Server to Azure SQL Database.
• Set up and manage database monitoring tools for proactive performance tracking and security.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure database changes align with overall system architecture and business needs.
• Automate database tasks using PowerShell, such as automated backups, maintenance scripts, and performance monitoring.
• Regularly review and update database-related documentation, including operational procedures and incident response plans.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior database administrators and other IT staff.
• Respond to database issues during off-hours, including nights and weekends, as required.
