Job summary

Roman Health Pharmacy LLC is seeking an experienced Database Administrator in India to maintain SQL Server databases, optimize performance, and implement HA/DR strategies. The role collaborates with developers and system admins to ensure secure, compliant database operations and disaster recovery readiness.

Responsibilities include backup design, security enforcement, T-SQL optimization, and automation with PowerShell. On-call support may be required outside regular hours.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of DBA experience with SQL Server.
• Strong T-SQL, query tuning and indexing.
• Experience with HA/DR technologies and security.
• Automation via PowerShell and scripting.
• Ability to work with developers and sysadmins.

Responsibilities

• Ensure high performance and uptime of all database systems.
• Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases.
• Optimize performance through tuning and configuration.
• Design backup, recovery and disaster recovery strategies.
• Manage security: encryption, RBAC, auditing.
• Write and optimize complex T-SQL queries, procedures, and triggers.
• Oversee migrations, including SQL Server to Azure SQL Database.
• Set up monitoring tools for proactive performance tracking.
• Collaborate with teams to align changes with architecture.
• Automate tasks with PowerShell and maintenance scripts.
• Review documentation and mentor junior DBAs.
• Respond to issues during off-hours as required.

The Database Administrator is responsible for supporting and maintaining all aspects of database systems. The role requires deep technical expertise in SQL Server, database performance optimization, and high availability solutions. This role will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers and system administrators, to ensure seamless database operations, security, and compliance. The position will also focus on disaster recovery planning and automation for efficient and secure database environments.

Job Responsibilities:

• Ensure high performance and uptime of all database systems.
• Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases to support business applications.
• Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing, and system configuration adjustments.
• Design and implement database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Manage database security protocols, including data encryption, authentication, and role-based access control (RBAC).
• Write and optimize complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers to improve performance.
• Oversee the migration of databases across servers or platforms, such as SQL Server to Azure SQL Database.
• Set up and manage database monitoring tools (e.g., SQL Server Management Studio, SQL Server Agent) for proactive performance tracking and security.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure database changes align with overall system architecture and business needs.
• Automate database tasks using PowerShell, such as automated backups, maintenance scripts, and performance monitoring.
• Regularly review and update database-related documentation, including operational procedures and incident response plans.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior database administrators and other IT staff.
• Respond to database issues during off-hours, including nights and weekends, as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Ability:

• 5+ years of experience as a database administrator.
• In-depth knowledge of SQL Server, T-SQL, and database performance optimization techniques.
• Strong experience with high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) technologies (e.g., clustering, replication).
• Proficiency in database security, including encryption, access control, and auditing.
• Hands-on experience with PowerShell scripting and automation of database tasks.
• Ability to work cross-functionally, collaborating with developers, DevOps, and system administrators.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-service-oriented mindset.
