Job summary

Sycomp is seeking a Data Center Engineer for its Mumbai team. The role focuses on hands-on deployments from rack integration to full system commissioning and customer handover across global enterprise deployments.

Ideal candidates will own installations, troubleshoot onsite, and ensure adherence to design standards and quality. Occasional travel and on-site coordination with OEMs are expected.

Qualifications

• Hands-on data center deployment and rack integration experience.
• Comfort with multi-vendor network environments and on-site work.
• CCNA certification is mandatory; additional global certs are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end rack deployment, cabling, power, labeling.
• Install and commission servers, routers, switches, firewalls, wireless gear.
• Coordinate with customers, OEMs, and internal teams for handover.
• Perform termination, testing, validation, and security config checks.
• Maintain as-built docs, rack elevations, and test reports.
• Ensure safety, ES D, and standard compliance; mentor junior engineers.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and self-driven Data Center Engineer to join our Mumbai team, supporting critical infrastructure deployments for global enterprise customers. This is a hands-on, field-focused role where you will play a key part in delivering complex data center projects end-to-end—from initial rack integration through to full system commissioning and customer handover.

This position is ideal for engineers who thrive in dynamic, project-based environments and enjoy being on the ground delivering tangible outcomes. You will take ownership of installations, troubleshooting, and validation activities, ensuring that deployments meet both technical design standards and customer expectations. In addition to core delivery, you will also contribute to maintaining high operational standards, documentation accuracy, and quality control across projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end rack deployment including mounting, bolt-down, structured cabling (fiber and copper), power integration, and labeling
• Execute installation, configuration, and commissioning of servers, routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless infrastructure across OEMs such as Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, Arista, HPE, and Dell
• Coordinate with customers, OEM engineers, and internal teams to ensure seamless execution and acceptance testing
• Perform fiber/copper termination, patching, OTDR testing, and performance validation to ensure network reliability
• Validate LAN/WAN connectivity, redundancy, failover, and security configurations per design
• Provide advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis during deployment and maintenance phases
• Maintain detailed documentation including as-built diagrams, rack elevations, and test reports
• Ensure all activities comply with safety, ESD, and data center operational standards
• Support mentoring of field engineers to maintain installation quality and standards

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience in data center infrastructure deployment, rack integration, and field implementation
• Deep understanding of data center architecture, structured cabling systems, and hardware components
• Experience working in multi-vendor environments and network infrastructure protocols
• Strong stakeholder management and on-site coordination skills
• Hands-on, results-driven mindset with focus on operational excellence
• Certification: CCNA required; additional global certifications preferred
• Willingness to travel for multi-site deployment projects (~10% travel as per business needs)
