Job summary

MODIFI GmbH is seeking an experienced underwriting professional to manage the full credit lifecycle for Trade Finance clients in India and beyond. You will assess onboarding, KYC/AML, and individual financing choices while upholding the MODIFI risk framework.

Job description

• Oversee the full customer lifecycle, encompassing customer onboarding, identity screening (KYC/AML), and individual financing decisions.

• Take responsibility for credit risk underwriting and the management of credit limits for MODIFI's Trade Finance customers.

• Conduct in-depth analyses of financial statements, company registers, credit scores, and other relevant credit assessment sources.

• Drive strategic underwriting projects, including underwriting loss analysis and portfolio stress testing.

• Further develop and implement underwriting principles in strict accordance with the MODIFI Risk Policy.

• Partner cross-functionally with the product, business, legal, finance, and engineering teams to build best-in-class Trade Finance products.

• A passion for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), international trade, and how digital Trade Finance can create significant growth for these enterprises.

• 5+ years of experience in Corporate Banking/NBFCs, Trade Finance, Credit Insurance, Factoring, or a similar underwriting position.

• Strong understanding of the Indian market, preferably coupled with knowledge of other Asian markets such as China and Bangladesh.

• In-depth knowledge of financials and financial analysis (including IFRS and GAAP standards), financial modeling, systems, and reporting.

• Expertise in credit risk evaluation and portfolio management

• Portfolio monitoring on an ongoing basis

• Collaborate with product, technology and operations teams to integrate compliance and credit risk controls into platform workflows.

• Proactive, detail-oriented and adept at managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• Academic degree in finance, business or economics.

• Fluent in English.
