Role Purpose
To lead the organisations product costing, cost analysis and cost-control function, with a focus on accurate product profitability assessment, export pricing support, procurement cost analysis and identification of opportunities for cost optimisation.
Key Responsibilities & Tasks
1. Product Costing & Cost Analysis
- Prepare and maintain product-wise and batch-wise costing covering Raw Materials (RM), Packing Materials (PM), analytical/testing costs, labour and applicable manufacturing overheads.
- Review and finalise product costs periodically based on current purchase prices, manufacturing costs and other relevant cost drivers.
- Ensure costing is updated regularly to reflect changes in RM/PM prices, labour costs, utilities, freight and other manufacturing expenses.
- Analyse product cost trends and identify significant cost movements.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and optimisation and recommend corrective measures to management.
- Provide costing inputs for new products, contract manufacturing and other business opportunities.
2. Inventory Valuation & Cost Review
- Carry out monthly valuation of Raw Materials, Packing Materials, WIP and Finished Goods in accordance with applicable accounting and costing principles.
- Review inventory valuation methodologies and ensure appropriate allocation of relevant costs.
- Conduct ABC analysis of inventory and provide relevant analysis to management.
- Review non-moving/slow-moving inventory and highlight potential financial and operational implications.
- Coordinate with Stores, Production and Finance teams to ensure accuracy of inventory and costing data.
3. MIS & Product Profitability Analysis
- Prepare monthly product-wise contribution and profitability analysis.
- Rank products based on contribution/margin and highlight key products requiring management attention.
- Analyse product-wise cost and contribution trends and identify opportunities for improving margins.
- Provide costing-related MIS and analytical reports to the CFO and Management.
- Support management with relevant costing information for business and pricing decisions.
4. Drug Pricing, Tender & International Business Support
- Provide costing and pricing support for domestic and international tenders, B2B business and export opportunities.
- Prepare detailed cost build-ups and profitability analysis for proposed business.
- Assist in determining appropriate pricing based on product cost, target margins, freight, duties and other applicable commercial factors.
- Provide costing inputs required for international filings and commercial submissions.
- Evaluate the cost and profitability implications of new export markets, customers and products.
5. Purchase Pricing & Vendor Cost Analysis
- Prepare comparative cost analysis of RM and PM sourced from different vendors.
- Analyse vendor-wise purchase prices and identify opportunities for procurement cost optimisation.
- Monitor significant changes in RM/PM prices and assess their impact on product costing and profitability.
- Analyse local and international freight costs and evaluate their impact on overall landed cost.
6. Cost Control & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor key manufacturing cost components and identify areas of cost escalation.
- Conduct periodic cost variance analysis between standard/estimated and actual costs.
- Work closely with Production, Purchase, Quality, Stores and Finance teams to identify and address cost inefficiencies.
- Develop and strengthen costing systems, processes and MIS for improved management visibility.
