Job Description
The Senior Instructional Designer will be responsible for designing and developing impactful, learner-centered, and performance-driven learning solutions. This role requires a deep understanding of adult learning theories, advanced instructional design methodologies, and the ability to consult with stakeholders at a high level. The Senior Instructional Designers will also lead significant design initiatives and mentor instructional designers, contributing to the overall quality and effectiveness of the learning ecosystem.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Design and develop learning content, activities, assessments, and evaluations across various modalities (e-learning, VILT, blended, microlearning, ILT) to maximize learner engagement and transfer of knowledge.
- Apply adult learning principles, instructional design models, cognitive science and storytelling to create engaging and impactful learning experiences.
- Develop detailed instructional design documents, storyboards, scripts, and media specifications that align with design frameworks and brand standards.
- Develop advanced learning content using authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Rise 360).
- Perform needs and gap analysis, if needed.
- Collaborate with learning consultants, instructional designers and project managers to ensure delivery and expected quality levels are met.
- Review courses/storyboards developed by junior instructional designers and train them as required.
- Facilitate high-level design meetings and workshops, influencing decisions and aligning stakeholders on instructional approaches.
- Proactively manage stakeholder expectations and navigate complex project dynamics.
- Ensure all learning solutions adhere to accessibility standards.
- Proactively manage individual projects, timelines, and deliverables, ensuring solutions are delivered on time and within scope.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation and organize all learning asset folders to ensure accessibility, version control, and compliance.
- Stay current with emerging trends, research, and best practices in instructional design, adult learning, and learning technologies.
- Other duties as assigned or requested.
Required Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor''s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Curriculum Development, or a related field.
- 6-9 years of experience in instructional design and curriculum development, with a proven track record of designing and delivering successful learning solutions digital and blended.
- Demonstrated experience working with western companies/organizations.
- Experience with having to communicate complex ideas, topics, and issues with U.S. team members. Ability to work collaboratively with cross functional teams and subject matter experts.
- Proficient writing and editing skills to create clear and engaging instructional content and materials.
- Proficient understanding of Design Standards / Visual Composition / Photography/ Videography
- Thorough knowledge and application of adult learning theories and instructional design methodologies.
- Proficient with the following technologies:
- Microsoft 365 Suite: Teams, PowerPoint Etc.
- Industry-standard e-learning authoring tools like Articulate Rise 360, Storyline 360
- Multimedia tools like Vyond, Powtoon, Camtasia, etc.
- Ability to think critically and solve problems related to instructional design and development challenges.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, balance priorities, and deliver within timelines.
- Familiarity with AI tools for content generation, personalization, or learning analytics.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Master''s degree in a relevant field.
- Hand-on experience with any one of the AI-based eLearning authoring tools.
- Exposure to data-driven learning evaluation and analytics.
