Job summary

Sopra Steria in Chennai (Siruseri) is hiring for an experienced Cobol/DB2 developer to code, test, and support applications, handle incidents, and implement change requests within predefined timelines.

The role requires strong analytical skills and willingness to work in UK/India hybrid shifts, with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions and maintaining knowledge assets.

Qualifications

• Experience with COBOL/DB2 on mainframe environments.
• Knowledge of JCL and VSAM.
• Strong analytical and debugging skills.
• Experience in development/support in UK/India shifts.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for coding, unit testing, application development/support, bug fixing and deliver tasks assigned as per predefined timelines and quality standards.
• Work on change requests from business.
• The resolution and recovery of assigned Incidents
• Analyzes incidents to identify service restoration actions to be taken
• Incident investigation and diagnosis of all priority type.
• Assists with classification and prioritization of incidents
• Detection of possible Problems and the creating a problem records
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
• Investigates assigned problems through to resolution or error identification
• Handle ad-hoc requests for Service status or one-time information retrieval/reports
• Gather service data as needed for reporting and communications
• Analyzing the process and suggesting improvements
• Keeping affected business partners informed about progress
• Participate in implementation activities and provide post implementation support.
• Contribute towards updatingknowledge assets
• Document all the learning’s from the project
• Adhere to the Agile Ways of Working
• Should be willing to work in Development/support in UK/India shift.
