EDV Werke in Chennai, India is seeking a Cluster Release Manager to own end-to-end release management across multiple projects. The role requires coordinating release plans, environments, and risks with delivery teams and stakeholders in a fast-paced setting.

You will drive improvements in release processes, ensure traceability with JIRA/Confluence, and support readiness activities for test cycles and deployments. This is an on-site, B2B contract position in a regulated, banking-adjacent context.

Working Model: On-site – Chennai, India
Form of cooperation: B2B Contract
Tasks:
  • Release Management Ownership – Manage the Release Management discipline across up to five projects in parallel, coordinating activities with Release Coordinators and delivery teams.
  • Release Planning – Develop and maintain comprehensive release plans aligned with delivery timelines, dependencies, risk profiles, and environment availability.
  • Multi-Project Coordination – Coordinate release execution across multiple projects and suppliers while ensuring alignment with enterprise change management principles and delivery standards.
  • Release Coordination Meetings – Chair regular release meetings with stakeholders to monitor progress, resolve blockers, coordinate dependencies, and manage delivery risks.
  • End-to-End Traceability – Ensure full traceability from requirements through design, development, testing, defects, and deployment using JIRA, Confluence, or similar ALM tools.
  • Environment & Deployment Management – Oversee release dependencies, staging, and promotion of code and configuration changes across environments in collaboration with Environment Management teams.
  • Release Risk Management – Monitor dependencies and risks affecting releases and ensure potential issues are identified, assessed, escalated, and addressed before deployment.
  • Release Health Monitoring – Track release performance through KPIs such as defect leakage, regression pass rates, rollback frequency, and deployment success rates.
  • Release Reporting – Prepare structured reporting on release status, risks, dependencies, milestones, and overall readiness for Release Management leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Testing & Continuous Improvement – Support readiness assessments before test cycles, coordinate lessons learned after releases, and contribute to continuous improvements in release processes.
Must-Have Skills:
  • Release Management Experience – Proven experience in Release Management or a similar delivery role, with responsibility for coordinating releases across complex IT environments.
  • IT Project Delivery – Minimum 8 years of experience in IT project delivery within complex banking or financial services environments with large application landscapes.
  • Transformation Project Experience – Proven track record delivering Release Management activities within small- to mid-sized transformation projects and complex change initiatives.
  • Multi-Project Release Coordination – Direct experience managing multi-project release trains across SIT and UAT cycles, preferably within regulated or highly controlled environments.
  • Banking & Application Knowledge – Strong understanding of banking environments, private banking products, and system landscape architectures supporting complex financial services operations.
  • SDLC Methodologies – Strong understanding of SDLC methodologies including Waterfall, Agile, SAFe, and hybrid delivery models, with the ability to adapt processes to programme needs.
  • Release Tools & Processes – Understanding of release management tools and technologies such as JIRA, with practical knowledge of structured release planning and coordination processes.
  • Stakeholder Management – Strong stakeholder engagement skills across technical and non-technical audiences, with the ability to navigate conflicting priorities within matrix organizations.
  • Communication & Problem Solving – Excellent English communication skills combined with a pragmatic, solution-driven mindset, structured problem solving, and strong attention to detail.
  • Autonomous Delivery & Flexibility – Ability to operate independently under pressure, meet tight deadlines without compromising quality, and demonstrate willingness to support programme activities outside standard working hours.
Nice-to-have Skills:
  • German Language Skills – Knowledge of German or another additional language that supports communication within international and multicultural programme environments.
  • Financial Services Knowledge – Deeper knowledge of private banking products, processes, and technology landscapes within international financial services organizations.
  • Release Certifications – Relevant professional certifications or formal training in release management, IT service management, Agile, SAFe, or related delivery disciplines.
  • Change Management Knowledge – Additional experience with enterprise change management, environment management, or deployment governance processes.
  • International Programme Experience – Experience working with globally distributed teams, suppliers, and stakeholders across multiple locations and time zones.
