Job summary

Bounteous is seeking an AWS Cloud Migration Engineer in Bengaluru to lead on-premises to cloud compute migrations. You will focus on workload discovery, capacity planning, platform configuration, migration execution, validation, performance tuning, automation, and decommissioning of legacy hosts.

The role requires strong hands-on engineering experience, a structured delivery mindset, and collaboration across application, infrastructure, and platform teams to ensure safe, scalable migrations.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related quantitative discipline.
• Experience: 3–5 years hands-on engineering experience in a team environment.
• Programming: Proficiency in Python, Java, or similar language.
• Systems: Strong Unix/Linux fundamentals with troubleshooting skills.
• Methodology: Familiarity with SDLC, CI/CD, change management, and Kubernetes-based deployments.

Responsibilities

• Assess on-prem hosts and perform discovery across CPU, memory, storage, dependencies and runtimes to determine migration readiness.
• Analyze workloads for cloud compute placement based on criticality and resiliency.
• Plan and provision cloud infrastructure capacity for migration, testing and production.
• Execute UAT and production parallel testing, document results and resolve discrepancies.
• Perform performance tuning to ensure stability, scalability, and efficiency of migrated workloads.
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and platform teams to finalize migration plans and rollback considerations.
• Manage release readiness and post-deployment validation."
• Design, enhance and implement automation frameworks for repeatable, large-scale migrations.
• Document procedures, learnings, risks and best practices to improve the migration factory.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled AWS Cloud Migration Engineer to join the team and support a high-visibility on-prem-to-cloud compute migration project. This role will focus on workload discovery, capacity planning, platform configuration, migration execution, validation, performance tuning, automation, and legacy host decommissioning. The ideal candidate will bring strong hands‑on engineering experience, a structured delivery mindset, and the ability to collaborate effectively with application, infrastructure, and platform teams to execute migrations safely and at scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess on-prem hosts and perform discovery across business processes, CPU, memory, storage, dependencies, and runtime patterns to determine migration readiness
• Analyze workloads based on functionality, business criticality, resiliency requirements, and interruption tolerance to determine appropriate cloud compute placement
• Plan and provision required cloud infrastructure capacity to support migration, testing, and production execution
• Execute UAT and production parallel testing, compare outcomes, capture evidence, and troubleshoot discrepancies through closure
• Perform performance tuning and optimization to ensure migrated workloads are stable, scalable, efficient, and production ready
• Partner with application engineering, infrastructure, and platform teams to finalize migration plans, release approach, validation criteria, and rollback considerations
• Manage release readiness, execute production deployment activities, and complete post-release checkout and validation procedures
• Support legacy on-premises host decommissioning after successful migration and validation
• Design, enhance, and implement automation frameworks and AI-assisted solutions to enable repeatable, efficient, large-scale cloud migrations
• Document migration procedures, operational learnings, risks, and best practices to improve the factory execution model

Required Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline
• Experience: 3–5 years of hands‑on engineering experience in a collaborative, team‑based environment
• Programming: Professional proficiency in Python, Java, or a similar programming/scripting language
• Systems: Strong Unix/Linux fundamentals with the ability to troubleshoot application, deployment, environment, and runtime issues
• Methodology: Familiarity with SDLC practices, CI/CD delivery models, change management, and Kubernetes‑based deployments

Candidates are not expected to be experts in every tool, but should bring strong hands‑on experience across several of the following areas:

• AWS Services: Hands‑on experience with AWS compute and migration patterns, including ECS, EKS, Lambda, CloudWatch, and related cloud services
• Cloud Migration: Practical understanding of on‑prem to cloud migration strategies, workload assessment, testing, cutover, and post‑migration validation
• Programming and Automation: Experience with Python, Java, Shell, or similar languages to build scripts, utilities, and automation frameworks
• APIs and Integration: Working knowledge of RESTful APIs, API design, and API Gateway patterns
• CI/CD and Version Control: Strong experience with GitLab, Jenkins, Maven, or similar tools supporting automated build, test, and deployment pipelines
• Batch Scheduling: Experience with batch scheduling platforms such as Autosys, Control-M, Cron, or equivalent workflow orchestration tools
• Observability: Familiarity with monitoring, logging, alerting, and troubleshooting using tools such as CloudWatch, Splunk, or equivalent platforms
• Automation Excellence: Ability to design repeatable automation and apply AI‑assisted engineering approaches to improve migration scale, quality, and efficiency
