Job summary

Bounteous is seeking an Infrastructure Decommissioning Engineer in Bengaluru to coordinate and accelerate the safe disposal of on-premises infrastructure as part of a cloud migration. You will work with storage, compute, and platform teams, coordinating approvals, change requests, and stakeholder communications.

The role emphasizes data-driven decision making, process improvement, and collaboration across time zones to ensure compliant, timely infrastructure reclamation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or related quantitative field.
• 3–5 years of professional experience in infrastructure management, technology project delivery, and/or enterprise-scale environments.
• Unix/Linux Shell Scripting; basic proficiency in Python (scripting, automation, data manipulation).
• Familiarity with change management processes in regulated financial industries.

Responsibilities

• Identify and catalogue residual NAS file shares, CPU allocations, and object storage linked to decommissioned applications.
• Analyse data in Excel and internal tools to identify decommissioning candidates and measure outcomes.
• Engage application owners to notify them of remaining infrastructure and secure formal approval for deletion.
• Raise and manage Change Requests for approved decommissioning actions.
• Work with Storage, Compute, and Platform teams to execute permanent infrastructure removal.
• Track progress, escalations, and blockers via Jira — maintain clean boards and accurate status at all times.
• Produce and distribute structured notifications, reports, and dashboards to stakeholders and senior leadership.
• Proactively follow up on outstanding approvals and elevate delays per SLA with clear professional communication.
• Continuously improve processes, templates, and automation to increase decommissioning throughput.

Infrastructure Decommissioning Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking Engineers to join a team that technically coordinates and accelerates the demise of on-premises infrastructure — file storage (NAS), CPU Cores — linked to applications that have been decommissioned as part of a firmwide cloud migration. This is a high-visibility program partnering with senior application owners and storage teams to ensure timely, compliant, and well-communicated infrastructure reclamation across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Identification & Cataloguing

Technical Skills

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• 3–5 years of professional experience in infrastructure management, technology project delivery, and/or enterprise-scale environments involving large numbers of business-critical applications.
• Unix/Linux Shell Scripting; basic proficiency in Python (scripting, automation, data manipulation).
• Familiarity with change management processes in regulated financial industries.

Core Infrastructure Competencies

• NAS / File Storage: Understanding of mounts, shares, volumes, quotas, and lifecycle management.
• CPU / Compute Infrastructure: Familiarity with on-prem capacity management and decommissioning procedures.
• Object Storage: Awareness of cloud/on-prem object stores and data retention policies.
• Development Environments: Working knowledge of IDEs such as VS Code, IntelliJ IDEA, and PyCharm.
• AI & Automation Tools: Familiarity with AI engines and assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Gemini) to accelerate operational tasks and reporting.
