Job summary

Point72 Asset Management, L.P. is seeking a senior Kubernetes engineer to join our Technology team in India. You will design, build, and operate cloud-native infrastructure on AWS, with a focus on Kubernetes on EKS, EC2, and ECS, plus Terraform-based IaC to provision resources at scale.

You will partner with development and platform teams to define patterns, implement CI/CD and GitOps workflows, and uphold cloud security and cost optimization across our compute fleet.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or related field.
• 5–10 years of hands-on Kubernetes in production, preferably on EKS.
• Deep knowledge of AWS compute and container services (EC2, ECS).
• Proficiency with Terraform for IaC and Python development.
• Solid Linux, networking, and container runtimes understanding.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and GitOps workflows; cloud security basics.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate Kubernetes on Amazon EKS (lifecycle, networking, autoscaling, scheduling).
• Manage and optimize EC2 compute infrastructure (instance selection, placement, capacity planning, utilization).
• Operate and improve ECS-based services for consistency across runtimes.
• Develop and maintain Terraform IaC to provision compute resources at scale.
• Collaborate with dev and platform teams to define compute patterns and deployment practices.
• Monitor compute environments for availability, performance, and cost; drive optimization.
• Contribute to architectural decisions on workload placement, multi-tenancy, OS images, and container lifecycle.

What you’ll do

• Design, build, and operate Kubernetes clusters on Amazon EKS, including cluster lifecycle management, networking, autoscaling, and workload scheduling.
• Manage and optimize EC2-based compute infrastructure, including instance selection, placement strategies, capacity planning, and utilization analysis.
• Operate and improve ECS-based services where applicable, ensuring consistency across our container runtime environments.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform to provision and manage compute resources at scale.
• Collaborate with development and platform teams to define compute patterns, containerization standards, and deployment best practices.
• Monitor compute environments for availability, performance, and cost, driving continuous optimization across the fleet.
• Contribute to architectural decisions around workload placement, multi-tenancy, OS image and container lifecycle, and compute isolation strategies.

What’s required

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5 to 10 years of strong hands-on experience with designing, configuring and operating Kubernetes in production, ideally on Amazon EKS, including familiarity with cluster operations, package management, autoscaling, service meshes, and observability tooling.
• Deep knowledge of other AWS compute and container services, particularly EC2 and ECS.
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code with Terraform.
• Experience with software development in Python.
• Solid understanding of Linux systems, container runtimes, and networking fundamentals.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows for infrastructure and application delivery.
• Strong grasp of cloud security principles, including IAM, network segmentation, and secrets management.
• Experience with other cloud platforms such as Azure or Google Cloud Platform a plus.
