Job summary

Tractebel, part of ENGIE, is seeking a Civil Design Engineer to deliver civil and structural designs for substations up to 220 kV, connecting communities to reliable power.

Based in Gurgaon, India, you will lead a team of engineers, coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams, review designs, and ensure compliance with IS, BS, IEC standards.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering, 5+ years in substation design, and proficiency in STAAD.Pro; Masters preferred.

Qualifications

In this role, you design and deliver civil and structural solutions for substation projects. You work on high-voltage infrastructure up to 220 kV and above. Your daily work includes:

• Performing detailed structural design of substation structures using STAAD.Pro.
• Developing civil designs for equipment foundations, control buildings, and support structures.
• Preparing structural drawings, design calculations, and technical specifications.
• Reviewing and validating designs from internal teams and external vendors.
• Ensuring all designs meet applicable codes and industry standards.
• Designing foundations for substation structures, including pile-type and conventional options.
• Leading a team of engineers on civil design deliverables.
• Coordinating with multidisciplinary project teams across different engineering areas.
• Representing Tractebel in technical discussions with clients.
• Providing expert guidance on substation structural design matters.

Who Are You

You are an experienced civil engineer with a strong background in substation design. You combine technical knowledge with clear communication and team leadership. You bring:

• A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. A Master's Degree in Civil, Structural, or Energy Studies is preferred.
• At least five years of experience in civil and structural design of substations.
• Strong working knowledge of STAAD.Pro for structural analysis and design.
• Familiarity with design codes such as IS, BS, or IEC standards for substation structures.
• Experience with PLS Tower or PLS CADD is a valuable asset.
• The ability to lead, guide, and support a team of engineers.
• Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative working style.
