Job summary

4M Innovations Chennai is seeking a Civil Engineer to lead plant infrastructure, maintenance, and civil project execution within our manufacturing campus.

You will plan expansion projects, supervise foundations, coordinate with contractors, and ensure IS code compliance and safety at sites. Accommodation may be provided, and salary deductions may apply as per policy.

Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
• 5–7 years of civil engineering experience in manufacturing, industrial, or EPC environments.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and project management tools (MS Project or Primavera).

Responsibilities

• Oversee plant infrastructure maintenance, modifications, and civil repairs within the factory campus.
• Plan, schedule, and supervise civil expansion projects and machinery foundation layouts.
• Manage civil contractors, architects, and vendors; review bids and monitor site progress.
• Ensure quality of materials and workmanship per IS Codes and industry benchmarks.
• Enforce safety and regulatory compliance at job sites per Factory Act and SOPs.
• Conduct structural health monitoring and preventive maintenance planning.
• Prepare BOQ, material requisitions, and preliminary cost estimates for projects.

Job description

Role & Responsibilities

• Plant Infrastructure & Maintenance: Oversee the structural maintenance, modifications, and civil repairs of factory buildings, warehouse spaces, utility yards, roads, and drainage systems within the plant campus.
• Project Planning & Execution: Plan, schedule, and supervise civil expansion projects, structural additions, machinery foundation layouts, and PEB (Pre-Engineered Building) shed developments.
• Vendor & Contractor Management: Manage civil contractors, architects, and vendors. Review bids, cross-check measurement sheets (MB books), verify vendor bills, and monitor site progress against project deadlines.
• Quality Assurance & Control: Ensure high-quality standards for civil construction materials (concrete, steel, brickwork, waterproofing) in accordance with Indian Standards (IS Codes) and industry benchmarks.
• Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Enforce structural and environmental safety protocols at job sites, ensuring compliance with Factory Act safety norms, standard operating procedures, and local municipal guidelines.
• Structural Safety Audits: Conduct periodic structural health monitoring, identify civil defects or wear and tear, and implement preventive maintenance plans.
• Cost Estimation & Budgeting: Prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQ), material requisitions, and preliminary cost estimates for minor and major civil projects.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• Education: B.E. / B.Tech or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
• Experience: 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in civil engineering within a manufacturing unit, industrial setup, or EPC contractor environment.
• Technical Skills:
  
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and project management tools (MS Project or Primavera).
• Strong knowledge of industrial civil works, heavy equipment foundations, steel structures, and waterproofing techniques.
• Key Competencies:
  
• Strong vendor coordination and site management skills.
• Budget control, BOQ estimation, and billing audit expertise.
• Problem-solving mindset with attention to structural integrity and workforce safety.
