Job summary

Pune Institute of Business Management (PIBM) is building a leading online PGDM learning platform. We seek a founding Chief Learning Officer to shape the academic and learning engine, ensuring programs are industry-relevant, academically rigorous, practically applied and scalable.

The CLO will be an academic-product leader translating market needs into credible, learner-centered programmes, with strong faculty, practitioners and quality systems to support delivery.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in learning, academic leadership, EdTech or enterprise capability building.
• Ownership of programme architecture, learning design and assessment systems.
• Experience building and leading high-performing cross-functional teams.
• Strong online and blended learning expertise for adult/work professionals.
• Familiarity with academic quality assurance, accreditation or governance.

The Opportunity

PIBM Online is building a high-quality, employability-first learning platform for working professionals.

We are looking for a founding Chief Learning Officer to shape the academic and learning engine behind our online PGDM portfolio—ensuring every programme is relevant to evolving industry needs, rigorous in academic quality, practical in application, and scalable in delivery.

This is not a conventional academic-administration role, nor is it only a content-production role. The CLO will be the academic-product leader responsible for translating market and employer needs into credible, learner-centred programmes, supported by strong faculty, practitioner and quality systems.

What You Will Own

• Set the academic and learning strategy for PIBM Online’s PGDM and executive-learning portfolio.
• Lead the design and launch of differentiated, industry-relevant programmes for working professionals.
• Ensure programmes are designed around meaningful career and workplace outcomes—not merely subject coverage.
• Build a high-quality faculty, practitioner, domain-expert and learning-design ecosystem.
• Establish standards for curriculum quality, learning experience, content development, assessments, rubrics, learner feedback and continuous improvement.
• Create scalable systems for online and blended learning delivery, including asynchronous learning, live application sessions, simulations, projects and guided feedback.
• Lead academic governance, programme reviews, assessment quality, academic integrity and outcome measurement in line with applicable institutional and regulatory requirements.
• Partner with industry, employers and internal business teams to keep programmes relevant, credible and commercially viable.
• Ensure responsible, purposeful use of AI and digital tools across the learner experience, faculty enablement and academic operations.
• Recruit, mentor and lead cross-functional teams spanning academics, content, instructional design, faculty operations, learner success and technology.
• Build the operating discipline required to launch, improve and scale multiple programmes without compromising quality.

Who We Are Looking For

You are a senior learning and academic leader who combines strategic vision with the ability to build.

You may come from online higher education, executive education, EdTech, corporate learning, digital universities, professional education or a closely related environment. You understand that a strong programme requires much more than recorded lectures, a curriculum document or an LMS.

You are likely to bring:

• 15+ years of progressive experience in learning, academic leadership, digital education, executive education, EdTech or enterprise capability building.
• Demonstrated ownership of programme architecture, learning design, curriculum quality, assessment systems or scaled learning portfolios.
• Experience building and leading high-performing teams and multi-stakeholder ecosystems.
• Strong understanding of online and blended learning for adult and working-professional audiences.
• Experience working with faculty, subject-matter experts, practitioners, instructional designers and content-production teams.
• The ability to connect industry needs, learner needs, academic quality and commercial viability.
• Sound judgement on the responsible use of AI, data and digital learning tools.
• Experience with academic quality assurance, accreditation, regulatory requirements or formal learning governance is strongly preferred.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder-management and execution capability.

A doctoral qualification or advanced degree in management, education, technology, business or a related discipline will be valued, but demonstrated leadership and execution capability will carry equal weight.
